Time is More valuable than money.

A person does not stop doing what they enjoy. They just do it on their time not somebody else’s. 🤗🤗🤗

@occasionalrain

Those professions are more like self employment...

Unlike MOST people who are Joe Lunchbox and are in someone else's yoke.....

I'm sure working for oneself is a lot more satisfying and might lead one to want to keep "working" longer...

How about retiring FROM a Joe Lunchbox career ( where someone else calls the shots) and evolving into another later life interest that COULD develop into an income generating gig while keeping one mentally fit?

I know a LOT of retirees now that I am one, and I don't know a single one who sits in front of the TeeVee all day doing nothing.....

Maybe takes a break from what they're doing, but none I know do "nothing" all day...!

Re: Mary Beth Roe Announcement

Besides you mentioned this 65 plus idea on Mary Beth’s retirement page.

Do you really think she’d rather be selling QVC items than spending time with her family?

There’s not enough Vacation time for a job that would make a person choose their job over family. 🤗🤗🤗

Re: Mary Beth Roe Announcement

When my brother was working, his employer offered retirement after 25 years of service. He would have went through the drive-thru if it existed! He thought of his job as just that--a job, a means to pay rent. He He retired in his late 40s, after he vested (or whatever the term is; he was eligible for a pension. He had a young daughter, so he has been able to spend a little of quality time with her. He augments the family income by doing refereeing, which he loves to do, and makes his own hours.

Some continue to work because the have to. Some continue because the want to. Some retire, find themselves at sea and embark on new ventures where they keep themselves busy, or even find their passion.

I'm not surprised because she has been talking about this for a long time. I have been watching her for many years and will miss seeing her on air. I wish her the best in her retirement, she's fantastic! Glad she will be there till March, I have time to prepare myself. Hope they throw her a huge well deserved retirement party Woman SadHeart

Re: Mary Beth Roe Announcement

Spending time with family often translates to caring for elderly parents, unwell relatives, or providing childcare for grandchildren.

I understand that not everyone enjoys their job and look forward to retiring.

Some however have no desire to retire. More couples have chosen a childfree life, my married child and their friends have. Family gatherings don't appeal to them.

No, most choose to retire to at 62 to enjoy life. Retirement is the best and offers so many opportunities. Plan ahead and start enjoying those great years. Travel, spend time with friends and family, enjoy hobbies, book clubs, sporting events, volunteering, and best of all--relax.
