@occasionalrain I know one! DH was offered "55 and out" 20 yrs. ago and he's loved it. He was and is a hard worker....that is....as hard as he can work at 75! He loves to be outside and although he has to have a little help for the heavy stuff now....our yard is one of the best looking in the neighborhood!!

You're joking right????
I left my Mega Corp at 57, after 34 years....ENOUGH!!!
Before that, from ages 5-23, from the day my feet crossed the threshhold of kindergarten, grade school, high school, college, many intermediate jobs til my career started ...
I jumped to other's demands. I danced to thier tune.
They called the shots.
Now it's MY turn to call the shots!!!
I WISH I had been able to go even sooner. I'm 68 now, and the last 11 years went by in 15 minutes, but at least I still am young enough to wring several more years out of a hopefully still active life...then coast til I'm 100....!!!
If I'd waited til 65 and it was 11 years later....I'd now be 76.
Nuf said.
Good for MB is she's retiring.
Her retirement song will hopefully go like mine...."
"I've got no strings
To hold me down
To make me fret
To make me frown...
I had strings..
But now I'm free
There are no strings on ME!!!!"
Credit :"Pinochhio"....who was, don't forget, a PUPPET dancing on the strings of others!!!

I'd concur...probably true...
But a LOT of people don't feel that way.....
They don't define themselves by thier jobs.
And I LIKED my career....but I LOVE being retired!!!
To each his own...!
I get hives now if I have a doctor's appt I HAVE to go to at a certain time....
I can't STAND being on someone else's schedule!!!

. @occasionalrain Interesting outlook. But I'm in total disagreement with this opinion.
I have a career and job I love to this day. I work to have the life I want -- but my job is not my life. Very different perspectives.
I can retire in just a few scant years, and believe me, I'll have papers filed at the instant I can on that day. Is there a drive-by window?
There are so many other things I do in life that I love, and hopefully will continue to do so. My tombstone will never read, "I should have worked for a few more years."

OK OK...on second thought.....
I think QVC hosts should have to stay forever, to keep viewers from losing their minds when they retire, get laid off or quit.
Just think...Jane T at 85...telling us endless stories about the fantastical Disneyland retirement parties of her daughters....while waving her HurryCane at the camera while threatening viewers not to insult her daughters....
....A bald David Venable reciting the 55 colors on and on and on....and doing the Happy Wheelchair Dance....
Rick Domeir on 24/7 Oxygen...still hyper after all these decades...and still in great shape as he pretend-eats Gundry gummies and Greenie dried lawn mower clippings.....
And a geriatric vendor Mark Charles will be selling his set of 100 snips in 20 different colors when he's 90...and Red will STILL sell out first....
Sheeesh....they want to retire just like most everyone else does who's worked a long career in one place.
Why do so many think they should stay til they drop dead on camera?!?!?!?

On her last day....she should take the younger hosts aside and tell them this simple tip and trick to being able to retire...
DON"T buy one of each color/size/style/material/ or pattern of each item you present!!!
(like so many claim to!!!)
Even IF it's "only" 49.99 on Easy Pay!!!

Do writers stop writing, artists stop painting, how many successful sought-after actors retire at 65?
At 65 their children are adults with jobs, friends, interests of their own. Grandchildren, if there are any, have friends, interests, activities of their own.
Those employed have weekends and vacation time to spend as they please.
