Is there anything REALLY positive about anything to do with menopause--except for QVC that makes a ton of $$$ from all of this nonsense!! I had very mild symptoms-- except for not sleeping---but the dumbest thing I did to alleviate that part of it, was to take hormones for a few years---and that led to a dx of breast cancer in 2012!!!

@Tori3569

I suppose when Q starts selling that all over body deodorant for cracks and crevices and other sticky hidden body features.....they can use that "doctor's" credentials too, to reinforce credibility ....(LUME)!!!!

She's supposedly a board cerified OB/GYN too.

O well......A huckster reality teevee "doctor" has been nominated to run CMS ( Medicare and Medicaid).

What did Barnum say?

@CaliGold67 I have no idea what is on the Q about menopause, but I must say, those that have not experienced it, or maybe even slightly, are the lucky ones, I have so much that I could say but .. Ugh... this topic gives me anxiety. Menopause can be devastating and life-changing, which I have experienced, and still do now. Kudos to those who never experience it. 💔 And hearts 💕 to all that still do.

I would think we should talk to our doctor rather than listen to a QVC host

Many women do consult doctors.  And, of course, QVC is going to offer products to ease menopausal symptoms, because they are a shopping channel, and some women might purchase them.  Helloooo...

The reason some of us are taking exception to the OP's post (and some subsequent posts) is that the OP was so dismissive to those of us who have had genuine, truly LIFE-ALTERING, menopausal symptoms.  And let me tell you, this OAB (overactive bladder) nonsense is horrific.  And, yes...OAB risks are increased by the loss of hormones during menopause.

To further add to this thought, I just saw my gynecologist last week for yet another vag**** infection, and she said that even though I am taking HRT and vag**** estrogen, these hormones are not like the natural hormones you have before menopause nor are they at the same level.  So even though it is the best that can be done, it is not perfect.

For those who had few to no symptoms, please consider being empathetic with your words to those of us who have suffered and are suffering even while utiltizing the best resources, doctors, and medications out there.

Perfect response. I also thought OP was uninformed given her dismissive comments.

However, I haven't seen or heard anything worthwhile on Q that helps those of us who have/had a very difficult time going through meno.

Edit:  This post needs me to explain.  I am tired of people telling women they need special treatment and are weak and need empowered and petted.  You don't.  Don't let being a woman hold you back, you can empower yourself.  I think this attitude of women need help because women are somehow less than is doing more harm than good.  And it makes me really mad.

Tell women you've got what you need, now use it!

OK, admittedly I have on my cranky pants this morning, so here's my take--exasperation and all:

It's part of the "victim" mentality now.  Poor me I am a victim I need someone to empower me and support me.

Grow up and if you have issues seek help.  We all know help is out there.  If you are embarrassed to go get help, go or don't go.  It's your life and your choice.

Honestly what is wrong with people today? You are a grown woman, get out there and help yourself.  You deserve it.

I think most women do this. I did. I held high level positions while going through it....massive hot flashes, red face, sweating, headaches, etc etc. I just acted like nothing was going on and I succeeded.

That said, it irks me when people dismiss what is real for the majority of women. Instead of being uninformed about the subject, they should feel lucky and be empathetic to those who struggle through it.
