“MENOPOSITIVE”?

[ Edited ]

Ladies - I just found this Category on qvc.com site - I had NO idea that "menopause" was such a BIG thing, like an illness or "condition" worthy of so much focus. SMH.  Mine was so gradual I barely knew what it was:

"Menopositive"?  I am pretty sure we're ALL grownups and can handle this part of being female and alive. The people focusing on this are trying to scare us into the Dr. office (like men know anything!)  and the Fan store.
PUHLEEZE.  And I've never heard of these "Advocates and Advisors" - it's just not a Real Thing to worry about or look for "Advice". Good grief. What's next?

EDIT:  Some folks here are misinterpreting my words to throw shade at me or to get sympathy.  Sorry cryo babies. My criticism is directed only at people and commercial interests who are profiting from the normal expected Menopause symptoms and ideas that we ALL experience.  Also - it's unhealthy to view oneself as a victim of normal physical or mental symptoms. We ALL have our trials and tribulations. If you're well enough to read and post here then you're OK.

Geez, it must be a big thing because the actress, Halle Berry, went to speak in front of Congress about it. Really, how did we all survive? They know it all.

@CaliGold67 ... YOU are very lucky because it was a "BIG thing" for me! Years of getting hot flashes... and sitting outside when it was hot out?!?!" Forget it !! ...and I'm not talking about sitting in the sun! I was in the shade when it was 80 degrees at different places and l was so hot l thought l would faint ... so l would have to leave and come home! This lasted for YEARS.

l had hot flashes for at least 20-25 years! I'm now in my 70's and they have calmed down... but l still get them at night a couple nights a week while watching TV. All of a sudden I would feel hot and say out loud "Oh good !! I'm 76 years old and here's a hot flash again??" I sleep with the temperature at 65-67 and use one throw.

So you see... for me it was and still is a BIG THING and VERY REAL". l am insulted by your post only talking about yourself and not feeling bad for people who have a hard time with it. I used to work for a woman about 50 years old. She would have terrible hot flashes during the day. She would be soaking wet... her face, head, chest, her back. She would have tissues and would try to wipe herself dry. I felt so sorry for her.

Consider yourself VERY lucky!!

Edited to say l don't watch the program. I don't need to because like l said I'm 76 and I've gone through this terrible time in my life already. I know a lot of women are watching and enjoying the shows. I'm happy for them they are enjoying them!

WHY is this so bothersome? Perhaps some of you seniors may have benefited with having more support when you went thru this stage ions ago.

I have to say that this post and some of the responses kind of went all over me.  I, too, have (and am) suffering terribly with menopause, and I've been going through it for 13 years.  I am 62. You name a symptom, and I've had it horribly...and would still have most of them if not for HRT and vag**** topical cream that I have been on almost since the start.  Night sweats, atrophy, dryness, increased UTI's, and increased vag**** infections.  Menopause...the gift that keeps on giving.  Plus I developed OAB from the UTI I had in May!  I am seeing my gynecologist and urologist for these conditions.  (No urogynecologists in my area.)

So it is a REAL thing, and I shudder to think about how I would have dealt with any of this if I had been born even 50 years before I was.  It may be a natural event, but should it not be treated if possible for quality of life?  I mean, I developed high cholesterol, and I was in good shape.  My doctor gave me a chance to clean up my diet (it wasn't even that bad) and to try natural supplements.  My next visit?  My cholesterol readings were even worse!  So, since that's natural (familial history of high cholesterol), should I not have treated it with medication?  SMH

@Ainhisg ... l am so sorry you are dealing with all of these problems caused by Menopause! ❤️ I've had problems with menopause for over 20 years but not nearly as many problems you are being treated for! 😢 lt amazes me that just because ONE person doesn't believe menopause is real it doesn't give her the right to say that!! She's ONE person and l guess she's obsessed with this because this is the second post she's written about it !!! Menopause IS REAL @CaliGold67 !!! I know you don't care for the shows about this...so don't watch them instead of complaining about them!! SMH

Well, I don't know about going in front of Congress for it???  I mean - what did she expect them to do about it?  I'm sorry but I think she is kind of out there.

However --- my experience with meno was NOT very positive I can tell you that!  I am glad that for some of you that you did NOT even notice you went through it, but there are plenty of us that DID notice it and it was NOT fun -- in the least!

I suffered with pre-menopausal symptoms and then the actual meno!  I had a lot of terrible symptoms.  One of them was feeling like I was being fried from the inside out!  And my face and neck would get beet red and sweat would pour off of me and I would feel like I was going to pass out!  And this would just hit at any time!  It was very uncomfortable and embarrassing!  This went on for years!!!!

So, I can tell you --- this for many - was NOT good and many of us suffered greatly with many symptoms.

@CaliGold67 Just because menopause was no big deal for you, doesn't mean that others don't suffer terribly wih it!!!!

My mother and I were blessed and thankful that we had almost no symptoms with it...but we watched friends, relatives and co-workers go through so much misery.

No one should assume that their experience with anything means that all others share the same experience--good OR bad!
