To each their own. But pulling kids out of their routine & this will be a drastic change I don't agree with. Does her husband work? What about his job? And she has pets? And

a lot can happen in 3 months. How secure is her QVC job? Whose gonna take care of her house? It's nice to want to help people. But come to reality.

@Patz822  I'm sure they have everything worked out.

How about Celebrities who do this all the time and the children go all over the World? This will be a good time for her children to learn a different language. I'm sure they will not miss a beat.

Military children move all over also. They will be ok.

You know something? If she had left without saying anything, the Forums would have blown up. Oh she was fired, I knew it would happen. She didn't even say Bye.

And so it goes.

I thought one of her girls was very sick. Anyone know what that was or if it has been resolved?

My SO's sister and her husband started doing missionary work after their children were grown and continued for 25 yrs. They helped build water wells/systems in remote areas  in several different countries. It takes very selfless people to do that type of work. Anyone who gets that involved has my admiration.

With the drug cartel kidnapping people left and right, , I sure would not take my children. Sounds like a real stupid idea to me.

This is an article I was reading:

Mexico is experiencing unprecedented outbreaks of drug cartels related violence,a rise in violent crime, corruption in nearly every sector of society and great civil unrest. In Mexico City, which has 33 million residents, the situation is dire and many people  are leaving the city in search of safety in more stable or prosperous areas of the country. At the same time, some locales like Tijuana have become virtually callous  due to a revolving door of short-term mission workers from the United States. What is needed are sustainable, long,-term , local church  centered ministries of biblical evangelism and disciple-making.

Reaching Mexico's youth with the gospel is of utmost importance with their country facing a national crisis of insecurity and uncertainty and violence and corruption shaping their perspective of society. They are questioning the traditions and religion of older generations. Young people in Mexico may be more open to accept the gospel as it offers hope for radical life change and eternal purpose.  But many communities are without churches or leaders to tell them about new life through their fath.

Catholicism is the overwhelming predominant faith in Mexico but Catholicism is seeing a decline as more Mexicans join Protestant Churches. Buddhism and Islam slowly gain influence due to immigration, or people increasingly profess no religious affinity at all.

Does she speak Spanish? Anyone know?

@SilleeMee   Kerstin has two adopted children -- one from Mexico, and one from Honduras.  According to her posts back when they were adopted, I remember Kerstin saying she was studying Spanish for quite a while.  I have no idea if she's actually conversational yet.  But my guess is she and her family are probably at least comfortable enough to communicate by now.

Re: Kerstin is Leaving QVC for Three Months

I believe she is fluent in Spanish.
It's wonderful she is able to follow her heart and live her faith. It's a testament to QVC that she is able to take a sabbatical. It's will be an experience of a lifetime that will enrich she and her family as well as touch many others.
