Re: Is It Fair?

Due to massive data breaches,  virtually everyone's Social Security Number is now on the Dark Web.

There is absolutely nothing you can do about it except to monitor closely and frequently all of your bank and financial accounts.

Be aggressively pro-active.   Don't wait for an institution to notify you.  Review and check everything routinely.  Usage of the QVC app is truly the least of your concerns in terms of privacy and identity violation

We have to monitor everything, bank accounts, credit cards and also I believe freezing credit is a good idea too.

Our hospital/clinic system was hacked and held for ransom for almost two months. The FBI was involved and it was a whole thing. They gave me three free years of dark web monitoring and every month I get an email with a report. There's never any activity on the dark web with my information. so downloading an app is a minor thing in my life at this point.

Most of us have little reason to be concerned about anything but financial concerns with the tracking.  If you are involved in criminal activities, are embezzling or profiting from human trafficking, hiding from the law etc. you should worry.

If you are a crime victim or a kidnap victim, your life depends on tracking in many cases.

Excellent point!  Tracking phones, etc has helped solve many cases.
