Re: I must be related to the Grinch!

I hate retail has become so commercial and greedy they don't allow us time to enjoy the present. Summer was over for the Q as of 1 July. I love summer and want to enjoy it. I want to enjoy the 4th of July w/o Christmas; Labor Day when it arrives. Let me celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving during their time. The entire month of Christmas can be celebrated in December.

I've lost the beautiful meaning of Christmas in July. If I'm in a frenzy to buy, buy, buy for Christmas, it undermines the meaning of Christmas for me.

I'd sooner give up the gifts than give up decorating.  Not that I don't like gifts, but going overboard diminishes the reason my husband and I celebrate the season.

I am the real Grinch.  I haven't decorated or baked for holidays in 13 years...not since the kids moved out on their own after college.  I can barely tolerate the Christmas and would love it if we could skip from black Friday to New Year's Day.   I like only 2 things about Christmas...Mass and getting together with family...there are 45 with just my kids, siblings and their families.

I agree. I can't stand alot of clutter everywhere, just a few nice things. There's so much Christmas "junk" out there.  I'm always happy to see Christmas come but also glad when it goes.  I take down my decorations a few days after New Year's.
