Black Hills Gold and Peterboro baskets, both American-made products.

and I miss consistent sizing in clothing.  Don't buy clothes any more from QVC because the sizing is always off, not only within a brand, but within an item number, just different color.

I agree, I miss the variety, I would devote an entire Sunday to watching QVC. Now I can predict the TSV on Sunday will be either a Laptop PC or a  Vacuum Cleaner and every show but in the Kitchen with David was dedicated to that.  Boring for a Sunday afternoon...

Me too! And Boyd's Bears and Kirk's Folly !

Me three!  I LOVED all three of these products, especially Boyd's Bears and Kirk's Folly. I have some of Kirk's Folly's pieces, but would love to see them on again and blowing the love glitter on us!

Re: I miss.....

[ Edited ]

I miss the VARIETY, the UNIQUENESS, and DIVERSITY in products (they used to show products I didn't see everywhere) and same for their programming.....The 15 brands they show now 95% I can obtain locally......with no shipping charges, free returns, and no "try me fee"....

And I haven't even been around as long as other customers.......and yes the hosts were less frantic..

What is sold on QVC is just an example of what's going on in the market for ALL retailers.  I certainly don't miss seeing items that I used to buy on QVC, but no longer care for, but I miss the overall value for the buck.  Not only do I NOT like the latest clothing styles, I absolutely don't like the poor fabric quality that we must accept or do without.  Luckily, the older I get the more I want to avoid trends in clothing.  Most of what I see looks like walking around draped in a bolt of cheap fabric.  No thanks.

That's the thing~!  Fashion is trying to tell us that these ultra thin fabrics are trendy and gorgeous.  Some of them look wonderful, then you feel them and they are junk.

As an experienced sewer my entire life, THESE are the fabrics that used to be at the back of the store, at reduced pricing because no one bought them!  They are even hard to sew on because of how thin they are.  i can't stand this kind of fabric and I don't care if it's a synthetic or a natural fiber.   I won't buy it either......

@Q4u @MomCat  I agree I call these fabrics the REAL WASH 'N WEAR, you wash them and wear them 2 times they either pill or stretch out---just a waste of money.....they don't even make good dust rags....Woman Frustrated

They blame it on a cotton shortage for a need to use other fabrics, but I blame it on a need to make bigger profit$.....

And yes concur @MomCat  I don't go for trends.....don't like the shark bite uneven hems, the ultra short jackets, the ultra wide pant legs etc. etc....I go more for the classic styles and can use accessories for an updated look if I feel like it....

I mentioned on another thread that the manufacturers use a product called "sizing" that is infused into the fabrics prior to manufacturing the item.  It bulks up the fabric and gives it a stiffer, thicker feel.  That stuff is washed out the first washing.  I can't stand it, it's itchy and makes the fabric a little rougher.

So if you find an item you love the feel of, buy it and wash it and it suddenly turns into a cheap limp rag it's usually because the sizing has been washed out and the fabric is back to what it really is....

You can buy a can of sizing at the store, and it can help put back that "feel" when you iron, but it is no way the same amount (or even type) of sizing the manufacturers use in order to make cheap, thin fabrics look beefier and more solid.

It's a racket IMHO..... but it's out there....

I really miss Lisa Robertson in the evening.  Not only did I find her classy but informative.  Yes, find myself tuning out more often than before....

I agree. I miss seeing Lisa too and am really surprised with how little I watch since she left. The products aren't drawing me in anymore, and heaven only knows the hosts aren't.
