@wagirl wrote:I'd get rid of the stupid phone calls. I change the channel when that happens so I don't watch much anymore. I really don't care what Freida from Kentucky has to say about the set of flash lights that are being shown!
@wagirl I usually enjoy the calls from the standpoint of learning how to use a product differently. When I last watched a Perricone presentation, which told exactly how to use the face product, a caller told how she used it, which totally made more sense to me than what the vendor said/suggested. It had to do with WHEN to incorporate the product. I started to use it as part of my routine the way the caller suggested and am glad I did.
But if the caller only can contribute that this is their first time purchasing the product and they are anxious to get it, then I don't care to listen to that.
Sometime ago there was a thread on the forum about how people hated to listen to the call-ins, and whether they were staged or not. I have personally been asked at least six times in the last 12 months if I wanted to talk with the host; this was after I purchased the product by phone. I always say, "Thank you, but not this time," as I don't want to end up saying something dumb!
But that experience has shown me that they are not staged calls, and in my case there is no rhyme or reason to my being asked to talk with the host. At first I was being asked after purchasing different products from the same vendor. So that made sense to me. I must be a happy camper with their products, so I'd be a good person to talk with the host. But when they asked me after purchasing a product for the first time, I thought that was odd. What could I contribute and how would they know what I was going to say?
Anyway, unless something has revolutionized the way I do things or has saved the life of something I know, I probably won't be a call-in or agree to chat after a purchase.

Like others have said, I would eliminate the one hour shows on just one product. I would get rid one one particular host who bugs me to know end, and most importantly, I would reward loyal customers. I spend a lot of money with QVC. How about some coupons or discounts for my loyalty? I get nothing. But we did all get a $10 "try on fee" that makes QVC even more money. As a result, I am spending less and less. QVC needs customers more than customers need QVC.

@Puppy Lips I agree with what you said, except for me the fact is I "used" to spend a lot of $ at QVC. Because of the lack of interesting products, the repetition of the products that obviously belong to QVC and more hosts that annoy me than I enjoy, I watch much less and also spend less.
One of the reasons I started shopping with QVC was because they had some really unique items that I couldn't find elsewhere, including jewelry and home decor. Now the jewelry selection is IMO downright boring and overpriced and the home decor is mundane for the most part. Obviously online shopping has evolved and there are a lot more options but QVC has gone down the path of narrow branding and boring (IMO) to the point that although I'll look at the new arrivals online, I find that most of my purchases are made somewhere else.
While many of the hosts are pushy and doing the hard sell, well, there needs to be a product that I'd first off be interested in looking at long enough to be persuaded to buy it and these days, I'm not. So combined with the hard sell, that has led to me tuning out.

@SunValley laughing so hard about the squealing/screaming comment.
I agree with the rest of your comments as well.

Stop selling some of the sub-par junk - the made in China mass-produced dime-store items. Stop selling items that, based on customer reviews, are obviously arriving broken or defective. Stop selling garments that turn into dolls' clothes when washed or that have defective zippers, loose buttons, etc.
Stop selling obsolete electronics.
Try giving customers true value and stop price gouging on popular items. Stop taking the laws of "supply and demand" to a new level.
Stop assuming that "tops" that are larger in size have to be longer in size.
I could go on on, but I'll shut up now.

What worked years ago really wouldn't work today and changing with the times is necessary. Shopping tv was new and everything shown was new and exciting for most as internet shopping wasn't here yet and there were not as many retailers online at first when internet shopping debuted. Now just about everything shown on QVC is available many other places and is not unique. Now they have to catch channel surfers so they show things for longer times and I would tend to think it's working for them. Many who post here state they check other online retailers and buy somewhere else after seeing something they want and they are often the ones who complain about boring programming!! It's just not good business sense to show more variety when they probably get more business by showing high end items for exteneded periods over and over from new customers who channel surf.

ITA, because half the time they are chitchatting about nothing, or the Facebook question or other stupid stuff

Educate the hosts on terminology on the product lines they are selling, some seem to lack the very basics of what they are selling. I watch fashion alot and it is quite apparent there.
