If you are seriously ' disappointed " by what a shopping channel host says or

does, you're too attached to what you're watching. Take a walk, read a book!

I don't think I have ever heard Mary say that she has celiac disease, just that she avoids gluten. Like David avoids carbs. I interpret that as they both feel better when they don't eat them, but having a bite or two will not make them sick. If Mary did actually have celiac disease, then she could NOT have even a bite, without getting seriously ill.

There have been many comments, both here and on other shopping boards, about David's strange ideas of what foods are really low carb. For instance, he claims to eat whole wheat pasta, sweet potato fries, and brown rice because they are lower in carbs. They may have more fiber, which makes them lower in net carbs, but not appropriate in a low carb lifestyle. Now that he has lost the majority of his weight, he may be just having occasional treats, which should not impact his weight loss. That is part of maintaining a significant weight loss.

Since Mary has recently (in the past few years) started talking about eliminating gluten, I am thinking that it is more of a dietary restriction, not the actual celiac disease. I think she would have known that she had that.

@jackthebear - She still talks about this health issue in her shows. That doesn't mean it's anyone else's business how she chooses to eat or take care of herself.

then she should not be talking about it,

I agree. If anyone host or whoever has already shared their medical problems, it's silly to say it''s no one's business" when the host or whoever has already made it everyones business!

And anyone who says an op needs a life, that goes for whoever has posted they "need a life," because they already took the time after their so important life to post. Jeez! It's like a sport to see who can post the best slingshot to the OP or any OP.

A mean game around here. Not every post has to be supportive but this is like intentionally shaming, putting down the op just for the sport of it. The pleasure in humiliation? Who can post the best shot?

If you are a QVC lover like I am the hosts become like family, so it’s totally understandable that someone would defend them.

"The pleasure in humiliation? Who can post the best shot?" @on the bay

I don't know who posted the best shot but I know who posted the first one. If the op has anything to be "sad" about, imo, it's that she created a thread to call Mary DeAngelis a liar for taking a bite of a crab cake.

If there was any humiliation caused here it started at post number one and was totally self-inflicted.

@SusieQ_2,

Yes, you are probably right. I guess we all can do better.

I responded with sarcasm before I read this. You make a good point.

In the last 6 months, my dad, a brother, a SIL, and a best friend died - with Dad dying 13 days ago. It's a little difficult to feel something genuine for a post like OP's.
