Thanksgiving is not one of my favorite holidays - but I do agree that it's pretty much forgotten in favor of trying to push Christmas shopping on earlier and earlier. Now, I began my Christmas shopping in October because I wanted to avoid the stress of getting everything in a rush, and with a single income, it just made sense to buy a few gifts each payday, and I'm just about done.

B&M retailers freak out because with the way the economy has been, and huge competition from online, they need to catch shoppers as soon as October rolls around. Their tactic of opening Thanksgiving night has worked, and people will shop, if they have the day off and they get their meals done in time. If there wasn't such a demand, it wouldn't be happening.

I agree,Thanksgiving is given short shrift. I leave my Fall decor up until after Thanksgiving.  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I have so much to be thankful for in my life,so much.  Our family has dinner and then we take a long lovely hike in the woods together. It's perfect.

I did a blended Thanksgiving and Christmas one year and that gave me more time with my oldest, they don't act up that way and it make for and interesting Holiday except Thanksgiving was crazy , my daughter-in-law 's family are very strange people and didn't even have a carving set, so the next Christmas I purchased one for both my son's. What we assume!! MInd you they are not teenagers but I always wondered if they appreciated that gift. Someday I will ask, maybe!!

If at interested Dollar General has mini solar turkey's and pilgrims, I was so happy to find these this year. But you really have to hurry.I got a little gready but stores don't usually have a lot of Thanks-Giving items. It seem they go from Halloween into Christmas then Valentines day very quickly.
