@homedecor1, I know this is frustrating.
I just added an avatar from my iPad to see if it works, and I had no problems. So, I think the error messages and freezing up might be specific to your device, and I wonder if you've done some "housekeeping" steps on your iPad?
1. Be sure you have the most recent version of iOS.
(Right now, that's 9.2 -- just go into Settings, choose "General," and then tap "About" to see the "Version.")
2. Close the multi-tasking apps running in the background.
(Double-tap the Home button to see recently used apps and then swipe each one up to close all the apps.)
3. Clear cookies and website data in Safari.
(Go to Settings, then choose Safari, then choose "Clear History and Website Data" and tap "Clear" when you see the popup.)
4. Try a simple “Restart:”
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
5. Try a “Hard Reset:”
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for about eight seconds. This will force the iPad to turn off, even if it's frozen.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button to turn the iPad back on. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few moments. The iPad will turn back on and display the Apple logo.
6. If you still have problems, perform a sync/backup of your iPad (either with iTunes on your computer or on the iCloud -- whatever you normally do). This should be done frequently, and not only does it ensure you have a good backup it also frees up space on your iPad and can clear up a myriad of software glitches.
I hope some of this might do the trick! Best of luck to you!

thank you for the tips!!! I'm very frustrated right now NOT just with this picture problem!!!
i don't use ITunes (that I know of) but his pop-up keeps coming up enter Apple ID: and password to continue. Well, I enter what I thought my PW is and then it tells me WRONG! Long story, i reset etc. and NOT right....
get that hat figured out and now I'm getting ICloud message to do same...UGH
yes, I did the latest update yesterday. I'm not going to attempt anything else (pictures) until I go to Apple or call support.
Thanks so much -- I am going to try your suggestions!!!

You're welcome, @homedecor1! It's helpful that you updated the iOS. If you've used any apps, you do use iTunes to some extent so you have an Apple ID. I hope you'll get in touch with Apple soon, and they'll help you smooth all this out.
Best of luck to you, and let us know if you have additional problems! Someone here will be able to figure it out!
It can get really aggravating, that's for sure...

Hi, @homedecor1! I'm trying to catch up...
I saw your other thread about this error and see that @Eva-QVC and @Keyai were taking care of it.
Just wanted to add a note that I hope your photos are working okay now.

Thank you for asking! No reply from Q but I didn't really expect one. Although, I finally learned thanks to all of you about "preview" for my posts and my pics (reg posts) are fine now.
I'm fine being a generic! Still have my wonderful posters here who are always happy to help or solve my dilemmas!!!
I actually know someone extremely high up in the Apple Corp who has vast technical knowledge -- spoke with them. It's not me for once!!!
Have a great day!
