Re: GLP-1 MEDS AND PLUS SIZE CLOTHING SALES

I'm not diabetic. Neither Medicare nor my secondary insurance will pay for my shots. So being on compounded tirzepatide (Mounjaro), I purchase through a local pharmacy. Ths pricing is dose-dependent. I started with the lowest, 2.5mg weekly. After a couple of months my doctor bumped me up to the next dose, 5 mg. I would have lost my weight a lot faster had I gone up to a higher dose but I couldn't afford it. So I've stayed on 5 mg. My pharmacist says an oral version is not available. Im paying close to $500 for a vial containing just over 4 doses.i have looked into online companies-pricing seems comparable but I prefer to keep my care local, with my own PCP and local pharmacist who knows me. My doc has been diligent in seeing me every three months, with a full lab panel each time, always monitoring liver and pancreatic functions, along with a physical exam. Yesterday he said that after I reach goal weight, which will be within the next couple months, he will push my appts back to every six months. ( mainly to monitor my ongoing medical issues)

Hopefully I've helped by sharIng my experience

Congratulations to all who are  successful on GLP1. I know 2 people taking these drugs and they say they feel great

As far as the clothing sales being down ...I'm sure the significant price increase has a lot to do with it.

@smoochy   Congratulations on your weight loss journey.   You. deserve it.  I have a friend who has been on various GLP-1 drugs and while she had some success she wasn't able to keep the weight off.   She is now trying to get on Wegovy.   I think the people who are the most successful are those that want a healthier life and willing to make better choices

girl, I hold no delusions about myself. I struggle with self discipline in a number of areas not just eating. But I have written out a plan for eating and exercise-if I see it in writing it feels more official, lol. Yes I do want the rest of my so called golden years to be as healthy as possible-given my medical issues. If I tell myself I'm too weak or lazy to maintain my weight loss, that will become a self fulfilling prophecy.

@smoochy
Wait a second...hold my near beer...stop the presses...I KNEW there were more reasons we'd be BFFs...I was born and raised in California and I am a die-hard Los Angeles Lakers Fan.
You know we Lakers fans STILL worship at the feet of Magic Johnson. Yes, my friend, Spartan Magic Johnson! His dominance over Larry Bird and the Celtics were part of the defining era for the Lakers. I watched every game in my youth, many in person.
MSU ROCKS! 💚 To this day, I still love watching the Spartans and regularly root AGAINST that other school that also begins with an M and that may or may not have just won the NCAA National Championship. 😀
Sending you even bigger love now, Smooch! xxooo 💕

Re: GLP-1 MEDS AND PLUS SIZE CLOTHING SALES

There will always be plus or plus plus sized folks as not everyone can afford this medication.  As far as men go, I think of athletes - where bigger is better..  I also wonder what the breakdown is between men vs women who use the GLP drugs.

I find it very difficult to purchase quality plus sized clothing. The Woman Within group has all sizes but many items get bad reviews.  Haven't purchased from them in years. The plus size stuff at Macy's is mostly plus sized brands that can be purchased from the makers websites.

REI has recently added a few items from a brand called SuperFit Hero.  Great sports bras but their sizing is off. Juno Active has good stuff with plenty of sales.  Their sports fabric lines can be worn outside the gym as they are really basic colors. Customer service is fabulous, but the items are pricy though they last forever.

@smoochy Yes, lots of family in Michigan, some are alums, and we love the State. I am not an alum myself, but we root for the Spartans in this house! Heart
