It is not good television. If his diet is now lo-carb,etc then he shouldn't be selling high carb. Are we told it is bad for us? It gets kinda preachy.
Perhaps just have Steve do all the presentations and David not be there for those type of foods he can't eat.
@Group 5 minus 1 @I totally agree with you in fact I was thinking last night when they were both on together. I feel if you can't eat the food your presenting then you shouldn't be presenting it ! I feel he carries it too far , it's to me saying this food is really bad for you , I'm not eating it , but it's really good you should buy it , I won't eat it though as it's bad for me 🤨

@Group 5 minus 1 what a good idea , they all eat too much anyways on air , they don't just taste , I'm thinking of one person in particular . No more tasting or if you must take one bite , not 5 or 6.

The last quarterly report shows that this area of sales is doing very well. They're not going to make a change because a few women on the forum want David to eat more, lol.
I think it’s a bit more complex than a few women on a board wanting David to eat more. This small group represents a greater number. That is how focus groups work.
David does not have to eat food, but he should at the very least say while I choose not to eat carbs, I do know everything in moderation is fine. That is why I test small bites.
What he can’t do is tell you to buy the very item he won’t eat. That is disingenuous to the viewer.
The problem in this country is not carbs, it’s portion control. David could use that as a selling point
@manny2 That makes perfect sense , why don't they , it's a great way for David to present the food without a "food taster"

I haven't watched QVC food presentations since late 2018 when DH and I changed our lifestyle to low carb. The only foods I buy from QVC now are certain meats (like plain ribeye and salmon)...nothing with breading or those like Corky ribs with all the sugar coatings/rubs). Since then it has gradually evolved for us over these years by lowering our daily carbs further to keto, ketovore and then to carnivore. DH still hovers in the keto zone...keeping his carbs to around 20-30 a day (total NOT net). As for myself, I am mainly carnovore - about 5 days a week 0 carbs...the other 2 days only about 10 carbs or less.
With that said, since I hear that David lives a low carb lifestyle for his health, I'm surprised David doesn't just present low/no carb foods. It would be silly for him to present products like Cheryl's Cookies, Jr's cheese cakes, etc and have another host be a taste tester.
I guess everyone still expects David to taste test everything with a happy dance.

I agree the host are paid to say the food is delicious. Have you ever heard someone say I don"t like the taste of that? Some of the female host of gourmet holiday take a very small bite I guess they are afraid they might gain a pound.

What a silly non-issue.
David has lost weight and no longer eats some of what's offered. To ask him to not sell products he won't eat is ridiculous. He sells what people like, not what he likes.
What if a host was allergic to a certain ingredient. Would you expect them to taste it anyway? There is no difference with David.
So what if someone else tastes for him. It's probably one nice thing Q has done for him.
Everyone understands that Mary cannot try most baked products as she is guton intolerant. No difference.
No one seems to mention that Rachel will not present, let alone eat any seafood products.

We don’t have to guess. Just look at the facts.
David eats a bite of everything. So, we know that the powers that be, and David understand he has to do that to sell. Or he would not do it!

Yes, QVC knows our metrics on this forum, including our demographics, buying habits, and shopping patterns based on length of time being a customer.
No, this is definitely not the same as a focus group. Don't confuse needs assessment or information gathering for a focus group. There is no research-trained guided facilitator here -- who is impartial to the study. A focus group is also interactive between the facilitator and the participants. Those two key factors are critical to being a focus group.

When I watched the show 11/8 Steve was taste testing everything. When the Kansas City Twice Baked Potatoes came on he told the guy "I'm gonna need a TUMS after this" (antacid) Also David doing the Big Bite on the chalk board is uncalled for. Steve needs his own show he has a good personality and deserves better.
