I thought the exact same thing when they started using the term colorway a couple of years ago. It sounds like overkill. Color is still the perfect description for the average viewer. I don't work in the fashion industry so I like to keep things simple. Just say "This color is called Navy", etc. It almost sounds like a regional description to me like something people from the south or northeast would say.

@Puppy Lips - I'm with you. I couldn't care less about color vs colorway, but if they say "fabrication" when they just mean "fabric," it is obnoxious.

I understand where you're coming from, but when I worked in clothing retail, these were two words the buyers used all the time. It's weird for me to hear them in any other place or context than buying trips.

I think of LEARNING as a lifelong experience. I am quite happy to expand my vocabulary, and I know there are thousands of words that I now use that did not even exist when I was a child.
I like that QVC hosts are being TRAINED to learn about the products they sell from professional viewpoints. Isaac used a LOT of fashion terminology, and he was always teaching.
It is the same when Michele Lau tries to teach the hosts about jewelry, as often new hosts do not even know one gemstone from another, and next to nothing about the GIA certification process.
I would never be proud of NOT trying to constantly improve myself.
By the way, how happy are clams actually?

I don't think I ever heard anyone but Pat deMentrie use the term colorway. Haven't heard her say it recently.
