Who is this chef Tony? I have looked him up on the inter net and there is no mention of him being an accredited / certified chef. Only thing that comes up is that he worked in a pizza shop as a kid and that he is a pitchman for kitchen gadgets. But yet he dresses like and presents himself as a chef, what a phony. {#emotions_dlg.devil2}

Exactly he isn't a accredited/certified chef...he just hawks kitchen gadgets as you mention. I never have cared for him anyway

He's not a chef - he's just what the OP said - a hawker of kitchen gadgets at trade shows - I think David gave him that title and what would David know about being ad trained chef anyway??

David has his kitchen show because Bob Bowersox left and they did not have anyone to replace him...I doubt David knows how to really cook!!

He seems like a nice enough pitchman for products. I guess I don't care what anyone calls him.

As for David Venable probably not being able to cook, I think he demonstrates that he enjoys cooking and knows as much as any talented home cook. I don't think he's ever claimed more than that.

I don't watch the show much at all, but I certainly prefer David V. to Bob Bowersox, who to me seemed both arrogant and bored all at the same time.

I never heard of him, either, but he was doing a demonstration recently - wiped his nose, and then used that hand to touch the food - disgusting! I am not a chef, or even a gourmet cook, but my kitchen is clean, and so are my hands.

First of all, David did not give him the name 'Chef Tony'. He's used that title for a very long time, selling kitchen gadgets on infomercials.

Secondly, David had said that he was taking cooking classes some time around when he first got the ITK gig. He has also stated, many times, that he does love cooking and took the classes so that he could learn more for his new ITK job.

From what I heard, a long time ago (so it might be outdated info for all I know), Chef Tony is not a chef. But then, neither was Bob B and he called himself a chef for years and even wore a chef's jacket on QVC to further the point. So what. I would agree that Bob B was not only arrogant, but boring. When he got let go, while I didn't wish him ill will (I don't wish anybody ill will just because I don't care for them), I was kind of glad to see some fresh blood in there.

OP: Sounds like you did a lot of research on someone you don't like just to find out if he's a real chef or not. It's just a shopping channel.

Just because the guy isn't titled doesn't mean he can't cook and he does a great job at presenting. I too think I remember David saying when he first started as the new kitchen host that he was taking cooking classes. I think Bob was just in that position for too long and it got stale for him and for us.

It isn't much different than Lori Shore wearing a Prindable's apron looking like she just took time out from her caramel-making duties at the Prindable kitchen to present ""her"" apples on the Q (I do like her and I think she seems like a sweetheart)

I really do like Chef Tony too
