Birthdays on address book

I am so annoyed. Went to look up a birthday I had in the address book and it was gone with a note that birthday reminders had been moved to the show reminder section. None of mine were there as I didn't set a reminder, just stored the dates. Now they are gone. So annoyed. Hoping maybe I am missing something and one of you have a trick to get them back !! lol
