Are Recent Sales Making You Buy More?

Lately stores are having some good sales.  As for QVC and HSN, they've been doing free S&H weekends and early Black Friday sales, Hobby Lobby had 40% off fall and 50% off Christmas sales, Rakuten has increased savings for several stores, etc.

Have you purchased more because of these sales?

As for me, I did purchase a large outdoor wooden pumpkin for the front of our house at Hobby Lobby on sale.  I would not have purchased it at the regular price of about $35, but with it being on sale and costing about $21 it did change my mind and I did purchase it.

How about you - have you purchased something recently because of sales the stores have been having?

Re: Are Recent Sales Making You Buy More?

I've been watching prices (and sales) more closely this year. My daughter will be going off to college next year and I already started stocking up on stuff, mostly from Target.  I noticed at Target this past week with their sale for circle members that a lot of college dorm room stuff was on sale but it was actually the same price as when it came out and now it's all picked over with limited selections of size and color.  Went to Sam's Club yesterday to check out what they have.  Was considering getting membership because I saw a promo for $25 membership for 2 people in the household.  It's much smaller than Costco.  When we went to desk to ask about memberships, they were having a $15 promo.  We signed up.  Last night I bought a flannel shacket for my daughter which was under $12 (and really nice) and bought Pokeman card pack that was $39 which would be over $60 in any other store.

--I do  watch for sales and do price comparsions  on everything it seems---but I did get the new iphone 15 for a great price at my local Xfinity store--am a customer too --and was just in for questions on it, but ended up buying one after so many great incentives. My 11 was starting to get weird after 3 years----

I'm probably buying more than I need to because of some of the great sales various stores are offering, e.g., Macy's, Blairs, etc.  Hard to pass up a "bargain"!!!

I've been buying as much as I can lately.....from my favorite place to shop for bargains...

The NYSE (New York Stock Exchange)...!!!

"Back up the truck  boys....everything's on sale.... and these prices won't last long!!!"

Been shopping there since 1979!!!

Buy every pull back!!

If there's anything left, I check the Q and HSN.

Unless I really love an item, Iusually won't buy.  I learned years ago, if it's just a "good buy", I don't use it.

Re: Are Recent Sales Making You Buy More?

I like to shop around and enjoy going and looking.  I do not have as many to buy for and for those I do they want certain items.

My daughter and son in law have on their list a Costco membership.  So purchased yesterday so they can enjoy early.  My husband said get it now and that way they can get our Christmas gift from Costco and laughed.  So we will get them a gift card to use at Christmas time.   They can pick out something they would like. Seems like last couple years it was tvs but I think we all have what we need in that department.

Amazon Prime day is 10th and 11th and my daughter is going to pick things out for kids from us to them as well as her own gifts to give.  We try and balance it out between the two houses.  I have a few items already for each of them.

I like everyone to have something to open no matter the age.  I enjoy gifts but keep it simple for me.  We just don't need that much and I like gift cards to spend on what ever strikes me.

Last year I got too caught up on spending on items from the Q.  This year I am doing good and have not been tempted.  Kind of over all that.  I have cut way back and started a few months back.  Wasn't easy at first but I no longer watch so much either and the prices on clothes is climbing so sticking to local bargains.  I'm close to retiring and a jean office anyway.  Once I started donating items I was purging it kind of woke me up big time.  Less is best for me.  I would rather help out the kids anyway.  Make it easier for them.

Re: Are Recent Sales Making You Buy More?

@ECBG   Since I tamped down my shopping, one of the things I've noticed is that many of the nearly new items in my thrift donations were once on deep sale somewhere.

Remembering that keeps me on track to shop very carefully now. If I hadn't lost both weight and height, I could have marched right past the whole pandemic and its aftermath buying no clothing.
