Seven puppies have been pulled out from underneath a house during a grueling two-hour rescue operation after their parents were seen crawling under the foundation.
Team members from the animal rescue organization Arizona Humane Society in Phoenix received several messages about stray dogs who kept entering a hole that had been dug under a house that was slated for demolition earlier this month, according to reports.
'When the EAMTs [emergency animal medical technicians] arrived on scene, witnesses stated that they believed the female dog had recently had puppies but they were nowhere to be found,' the Arizona Human Society said.
Technician Theresa Scheckel noticed that the female dog looked like she had been nursing and decided to dig holes on each side of the house with the help of her partner Dan McGrath to see if the puppies were underneath.
When McGrath slid into the larger hole, he discovered the puppies in a pile. There were five males and two females in the litter, all of whom were less than two weeks old.
While under the house, he used a gurney to slide the puppies to Scheckel, who pulled them out from underneath the dwelling one at a time.
'After two hours of digging holes, locating the pups, and sliding each one out one by one, the pups and mom were reunited before heading to the Arizona Humane Society’s trauma hospital for medical exams,' the organization said.
The mother had suffered puncture wounds to her torso and officials said she was likely injured by constantly going underneath the house to take care of her babies.
'Her demeanor is just as sweet with people as it is with her puppies and she is an excellent, attentive mother,' the Arizona Humane Society said in a statement.
'The mom and puppies are now resting comfortably in the Arizona Humane Society’s Mutternity Suites, an extension of AHS’ trauma hospital.
'Mom and puppies will soon head to an AHS Foster Hero home to continue their journey until they are old enough to eat on their own.'
The dogs will be available for adoption in several weeks.

Photo #2 is Dad trying to help Mom crawl out from under the house.
They had both been going in and out to care for the babies.

Oh my gosh, I'm so glad they were rescued. The puppies, when ready, will likely be adopted quickly. But, I hope the male and female find comfortable, loving homes, that they deserve, too.
Statistically, for some reason, adult black dogs are often overlooked in shelters. I hope their story opens more hearts.

I'm so glad they were rescued. Dad helping Mom out of the crawl space is very touching. I hope they all get adopted. It would be nice if the parents could be adopted together.

That is love between mom,and dad ,for their pups, they look like labs, why would they have to be fending for themselves.

Probably because some low-life human abandoned them and left them to fend for themselves to survive.....or not.
