I have HALF a standard poodle, the other half Is golden retriever. In truth, if he didn't have retriever ears and tail, you would think he was a standard poodle. High energy, smart as heck, and can jump like a deer. Doesn't shed at all, is a very social and exceedingly happy dog. Love him to death.

We have a mini Labradoodle.  She is 10 months old and just a love.  Very smart and was a breeze to train.  Very affectionate too.

I recently became interested in getting a mini labradoodle. I had my heart set on a Pomeranian but they are very yappy and I live in an apt.

I know the mini labradoodle is bigger and that is ok. I'm looking for a very affectionate dog as well. I would like to know more about your dog; the only other puppy I've had is a rottweiler boxer mix but she is living with my family abroad.  Any details about your positive experience would be a great help. Thanks.

Yes, my avatar is a pic of my pup when he was a puppy. I went with this mix because I had two previous Goldens and was tired of the hair. With this little guy, I got the absolute best of both worlds: gentle, smart, nonshedding, and my little shadow. Couldn't love him more!

I love my herding dogs but I've also had miniature poodles. I don't think you can beat them for brains and personality plus. They, being non-shedding, is also a plus but you have to consider that every three or four months you're going to have a hefty grooming bill. They take a lot of brushing to keep them from matting too.

Re: Do you have a Standard Poodle?

We had an apricot Standard when my kids were small. We got her at the shelter of all places. She was a wonderful dog, one of the best we've had. She was laid back, smart, obedient and excellent with my kids. If she thought anyone was about to hurt them, she would place herself between the kids and the perceived threat and bark. Sadly, we lost her to cancer, but we loved her dearly. The one negative was grooming. It can be quite costly if you don't do it yourself.

Yes I have two, a chocolate, female who is 5 years old and a parti colored male who is 2 years old. Both are wonderful dogs, they are smart, loving, obedient and easy to train. They are wonderful companions, friendly and laid back. I highly recommend this breed.

Re: Do you have a Standard Poodle?

My daughter has a white standard and she is wonderful. She is great with the children and really loves people. She also has several doggie friends that she meets with at the dog park.
Right now we are dog sitting and she is very good company.

Re: Do you have a Standard Poodle?

I have two mini's and they are not yappers!  But they are the love of my life Smiley Happy .  I would totally consider a standard someday if I had a larger yard.
