I donated to a no-kill shelter here in Los Angeles.

Some of my friends and I talk about a dream of if we could live anyway we wanted we would live on a place where we could have all the animals we wanted and take any and all of them in!

Folks want no kill shelters, and in theory I agree with that. But it's tough for the shelter, and expensive. The eyes on that kitten are begging for someone to love.

When I was very young, going to the cemetery was a big thing.  We went and put wreaths on certain relatives, one we never did.  My Mom told us, Mommom would rather see the money going as a donation to the animal orphanage!  That was in the 50's, the "animal orphanage" is in my monthly expenses now!  So it must have really suck in my young brain. 🐈‍⬛🎅🏻🎄🐩

@on the bay Not even Noah was allowed to do that! proxy-image.gif

@We rescue cats.  You're right, no kill shelters are great in theory but unfortunately, often the care of the animals isn't great because, while intentions are good, the money is lacking.  Over the years, I've seen several shut down and the animal confiscated.

Not a happy situation.

I think about that all the time.

@Kachina624

And there are some very well-run no-kill shelters.  They aren't all as you've described.

@Tinkrbl44. Logic dictates that not all like that but they all seem to struggle financially.

Thank heavens there are so many kind, caring and loving people who foster and adopt. There is so much need and want. Every life saved is precious.
