My first thought was Sedona, AZ, since the beach is out (but I'd go to the beach).

Rent a car, drive Highway 1 through Big Sur. Monterey is nice.

I went to NYC once. Never again.

I actually thought of Sedona but I haven't been there myself so I could not recommend it. I'd love to go though! I love the whole southwestern vibe......the art, tiles, pottery, great food, amazing sunsets and those adorable houses!

Depends on your interests, the thought of 4 days of a spa is a no for me 1 morning is enough, figure out what you like to do, sightsee, museums, tours etc, spas golf, sports then go from there.

If you have not been to NYC, it is worth going but I would not recommend going in August when it is hot. September is a wonderful time to go.
