Re: REQUEST REVIEW...

[ Edited ]

@SahmIam

When I first saw this jacket, it reminded me of one I have by Eileen Fisher in black silk shantung, which I've practically worn out. The collar on that one does stand up and it's light, but has substance to it. I suppose you could try to starch it and see...but, I know for myself, once I see something I don't like on a garment, that feeling usually doesn't go away. I have one too many clothes hanging in my closet right now that I talked myself into keeping!

@SahmIam

Based on your review, I am very disappointed and have not received mine.  I thought it was going to be like a silk shantung, not a parachute silk which is usually used for lining fabric in lesser quality clothing.  Oh, how sad.  Mine has not arrived and I am heartsick.  I wanted it to look like a swing coat not a boyfriend shirt.  I guess I will just suck it up and send it back or give it to my housekeeper as a Christmas gift.  She will like the red one.

I have a silk Eileen Fisher black silk shantung that I love and albeit it silk shantung, it is floating and light but has substance.  We must have the same.  I got it about 2 Christmases or maybe 3 ago, I think, for wearing to theater and have worn it and worn it.  It is a go-to jacket for fair, but cool, weather.

Really really pretty, very rich colors.  I just did a review, will prob be posted tomorrow.  Ordered a my regular size Large (i'm busty) and glad I did.  I just love the fabric, drape, design.  My favorite would be the red, than alabaster than black, but I'm not returning any.

@Nonametoday  Don't be sad as you may find it's perfect once it arrives! : )   Remember, I sized down in order to cut back on the swing since you didn't, you'll have far more fullness.

Material is something, like scent, that people either like or not. I'm really picky about material; how it drapes, how it feels, etc. I've spent a fortune on tailoring because I like what I like and don't mind spending the money on having things made to fit my body. Personally, I think this weave looks like Dupioni Silk; it's beautiful.

The jury is still out on this but do believe me when I say it's a lovely piece for anyone's collection and can be used many ways. : )

Yes, I forgot your great post.  It does not sound anything like the former post.  I will look forward to it, not judge it until I see it and hope it will be as you described here, which sounds lovely.

Mine arrived today, a day early. I sized down to a small and got the red along with the matching shell and skirt. The outfit is fabulous! I did not find the jacket too small in fact I was even able to button it. The swing is nice, not too much at all. I'm now considering the black as well.

You have restored my faith in my judgment!  Thanks all!  I shall not post again until I have tried mine.  Think they will be here tomorrow.

I’ve thought and thought about this jacket. I even had DH measure 5.5” below my neck across my back (between the shoulders). It’s 15” BTW.

Looked at the numbers & the video twice. I love the fabric & the color (alabaster) but I dislike the swing style jacket. I feel if I order my usual Medium in jackets it will be like a Large. The Small looks to be the best size for me in this style jacket. If this had been less of an A line & more of a notch collar type jacket, I would have ordered it.

I think I will ask Louis if some sort of jacket or even the gauze crepe open assymetrical cardigan (A293748) will be coming in alabaster color. I could live with that,

Sure sounds like we have the same jacket! Mine is about 3 years old, but as with you, it's a favorite go-to for the theater and any dressy occasion.

I think there are enough positive reviews coming in on this one that we may be pleasantly surprised. I'm concerned about sizing and that "billowy" effect and, of course, the fabric. But, Louis seldom disappoints, so I'm remaining cautiously optimistic.
