What a deal you found!  I ordered mine from QVC because I can't get out to shop too much. I've been looking at this gadget for a while but wanted to wait until I saw it for the KA mixer. Our kids purchased the pasta attachments for me this year and I'm having good luck with them. Too think I used to do this by hand. Honestly. I'm hoping that if I cut veggies like fries I can get more veggies into my husband's tummy. What I didn't see or hear mentioned was after you get the veggies cut do you need to steam them or does the sauce warm them? I expect some small booklet to be included but just thought I'd ask all the cooks out there what they prefer to do.

Fressa---it depends on what you spiralize. I do zucchini a lot instead of pasta and yes you need to cook it first to get it soft like pasta. I haven't tried steaming it first  but I will. But if you want to make a salad with carrots or zucchini then no you don't have to pre cook it. Am anxious to get this. I do have a hand spiralizer that works very well but I have dexterity issues with my hands and fingers so anything that make my job easier is a good thing.

Re: spiralizer attachment for KitchenAid.

Are you saying place a "precooked zuchinni" on the spiralizer?

Then turn on the KitchenAid?

thanks

@Fressa

Though I do not own the KA version, I do own the Spiralife, so take care of things manually.

I've used zucchini MANY times to create dishes and personally would advice against steaming.  All you need to do is process the zucchini through the spiral device and follow the directions for your recipe.

If one cooks the zucchini ahead of time, one takes a big risk in creating mush.

Re: spiralizer attachment for KitchenAid.

Thank you for your tips on how to use and cook with this item. I happen to see an episode of Diners, D&D last night and they were using this attachment or something like it. He made a pasta dish and just threw the zuchinni, squash and carrots in at the end. He also did a salad and just left it raw. It all looked so good.  I appreciate all of your help and comments with my question. Thanhs again.

I wanted it fast so went to BB&B with a coupon. Works wonderful. Was going to get a stand alone until I saw this and wow...with all the great reviews everywhere it was a no brainer. BB&B stocks loads of them, no waiting. kitchenaid1.jpgkitchenaid1.jpg
