i sure would like to know what the difference is between paying $6+ or more for a piece of pie in restuarants vs buying a $30+ pie online delivered to your door

a 10" pie can be cut into 6-8 pieces.$36 to $48

Pies are unhealthy, so why not just save your money and avoid them altogether? Win - win.

Do you not eat anything unhealthy ever?  Especially during the holidays?  That's what this is about.  And if you don't, that's impressive but not my thing.

@ChillyTulip, I don't know about all the pies, but the pecan and pumpkin are already baked.

Based on the recommendations I read here, two years ago I bought two different pies at Costco. I wanted to see if they were holiday worthy. I thought they were disgustingly and threw them out after trying a slice of each. To me they were not holiday worthy.

I rarely eat pie, but my DH loves it. The one time I made cherry pie from scratch (even picked all the cherries from our cherry tree) for my DH, if I would have charged my hourly professional work rate the pie cost would have been astronomical. Yes, I am a career woman, not a homemaker, which means I have enough money to shop at QVC whenever I wish.

So, DH can buy pies and spend whatever they cost--we were in Lancaster in August, and he bought an Amish Shoofly pie for around $30.00, and ate the whole thing himself and really enjoyed it!

Well, I have on order for the holidays two different cake desserts from QVC from the Delizioso brand--limoncello and berrymisu, just overwhelmingly excellent, and worth every dollar. We can freeze them and eat them at leisure.

Life is short--enjoy it to the fullest, and don't begrudge every dollar, because you certainly cannot take it with you. Memories of delicious food last a long, long time!

I love pie, especially cherry, but even if I could make a decent pie crust to make a cherry pie, sour cherries are not available here.  So, might as well buy one, usually a Marie Calendars'.  I like baking it.

Whatever floats your boat.

I've bought the St. Clair sides for years although not this year.  But, I think it's a fair price not to have to deal with all the hassle.  I don't enjoy cooking especially on top of all the other things that have to done and then cleaning up the dishes which can't go in the dishwasher.

The pies are frozen and shipped in a Styrofoam cooler with dry ice by UPS Next Day or Second Day Air.  This alone is very expensive, probably $20+.

@Kachina624 Then they shouldn't say that shipping is free when we all know it isn't. They should go back to stating that shipping is "included."

There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it.
For example, I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt.

@bargainsgirl

I paid $28 for an 8" Apple Crumb pie for my daughter's birthday at a lovely family owned bakery.

Considering they are shipping it to you, I don't find it overpriced at all.

Her previous birthday 2024, I made it.

The apples alone cost me $18 !

I'm not saying that people should buy a pie from Walmart's bakery. It was an option I gave. Walmart delivers pies to your doorstep if you want to order one. No need to drive that far.

Not for free they don't.

I am Walmart + and get 'free' delivery.  However, there is a tip added.   I would never be the type of person that puts 0 !  So there goes that savings.

Yes, not a free delivery but if you had to drive 30 miles to get to a WM then you'd be spending money on the car (gas plus everything else it takes to drive a car) and the time it takes to get there. WM pies are still a bargain even with the added charges.
