I worked in Shaw's supermarket and I know first hand the stuff that went in the trash would just blow you away. They did get better with it. I was in deli  and prepared foods departments and before Alot of our food went out of code we would put it in boxes and it went into the freezer and once a week food banks would pick up food and give it out to people and to places that cook and feed homeless and people in need of a cooked meal.

Panera donates tons of 'day old' to our church food pantry.

We, along with other churches and pantries, do pick ups several times a week.

That's what some of the Darden Restaurant concepts do, the only difference is they harvest themselves and drop it off to the various organizations.

When they sell various can openers they open many, many cans, jars, and bottles. I can see demonstrating it on one of each but not dozens. Same with wine, they open many bottles. And don't even get me started on steaks, salmon, and lobster. Shameful all the waste.

@petey0711 ............First of all QVC buys the food so it belongs to them.

It has been said before on the shows that the employee's, camera crew, and the others can and do eat the food.  Maybe they can take some home also.

The law does not allow the already cooked left over food to be donated.

Sorry, I don't agree...It was my understanding the Vendors absorb all costs with presenting their food.  I was told that by Bobby Chez wife, Linda, in an email.  He had Smashburgers and crab cakes on Q for quite a while.

QVC doesn't stock food like they do 'goods'.  Food is always shipped directly from the vendor, Not a QVC warehouse.

And in NY, it is perfectly legal to donate cooked, unsold foods.  It is done all the time.

@RespectLife .............. Your right It is most likely the vendor supplies the food.  It has only been since 2022 that the FDA allows restaurants to donate food to shelters.  I dont know about a venue like QVC.
