Re: flat cookie problem may be solved

My mom's oven is 49 years old and is about 50 degrees off. I just adjust the temp. and cook away!!!

When none of my baking was turning out I discovered that my baking powder was from 1976.

Oh my word ! I change mine every 3 months just to be on safe side.

Use the old baking powder for cleaning or de-odorizing.

It's very true - they don't make appliances like they used to. Electronic controls in today's models get easily out-of-whack and are expensive to replace / repair. It does make you wonder if it's intentional.

Same with all electronics and cars. It's called, 'planned obsolescence'. They are built to break, not last.

That's how they stay in business. Make you constantly pay for repairs, when, they become to costly and not worth it just go out and buy a new one. After all it's only money ! Everybody knows we all got so much money we don't know what to do with it. LOL

You could buy used older oven. This way you save money and get one of the ones that was built to last. Or just buy a basic oven as to not be out too much money for extras that break and you won't use.
