Re: favorite small pan

[ Edited ]

I don't really have a current fav, so I'm interested in people's answers.

Got rid of all old pans, a few years ago, including traditional non-stick, (except a few brand new Cooks Essentials I had I'm still using) and bought two T-Fal ceramic non stick I saw at Marshall's, one 8", one 10." They're ok...ie. they were really non-stick to begin with, but after a few uses, seem less so. But, for now I'm still using them, and I don't hate them.

I'd like to get a small cast iron pan at some point.

And, if I invested in ceramic again...I'd get the Caraway. BF has those...they are remarkable. Pricey but quality. Substantial (but beware if you don't handle "heavy" cookware easily), and the non-stick is brilliant and cleans basically by rinsing them off! No scrubbing ever necessary. He bought a whole set. I didn't need all those items, but at some point I'm going to see if I can buy individual pieces. He got rid of mostly everything else and uses this set only. Over a year of consistent use, they still look like new, perform well.

Btw, when I said they are heavy, they are not lightweight, but I have tendonitus in one wrist and some arthritius in my hands and handle them fine. Just a heads-up for anyone who doesn't like heavier pans.

I bought a 3-pc. set of Henckels skillets at Costco a few years ago.  They get a lot of use. They're layered aluminum with a non-stick granite surface.

I bought those too.  Unfortunately, after a couple of years they stopped being non-stick.  (And I'm a fanatic about doing all the right things when using and cleaning my non-stick equipment.)

That's a crepe pan.  I have two of them.

They are great for cooking other things too, but things like bacon, hamburgers, or anything greasy will get your stove dirty.

I had two complete sets of All Clad cookware. I really hated it the more I used it. I gave them away and I now have HexClad cookware. It is FABULOUS! Best Investment ever!!

Just bought new Caraway and Green Pan Ceramic non-stick skillets, 2 big ones with glass lids, and wok from Macy's and they are wonderful!

I don't know how long they will last, but they are the best we've ever had.

My favorite small pan is this 8" Mopita aluminum frying pan, with QuanTanium nonstick. I found it on clearance in Home Goods.

@4kitties : Sold out at Costco. Walmart has one for $23. Home Depot. Same size and brand but different color handle.

@SouthernBee

I hope they will get more of them again because it really is a very nice, durable pan.
