well, looks like I will soon be the proud owner of a new dishwasher. Sun nite the dishwasher was running and Charlotte and I were playing. began to smell something burning. stopped the dishwasher and opened it and then really smelled it. ugh. so today ordered a new one. probably can't complain. I have lived here for 10 years and the dishwasher was there when I moved in. suspect it was a present from the ark after the flood subsided. it still has a turn dial to operate! went to my favorite appliance store and asked for a white dishwasher (rare) in Whirlpool and the ability to dance or tell jokes was not required. he laughed and showed me one that was on sale and did all the necessary operations. the biggest shock was installation - $225.00! oh well, bought it anyway cause the prices weren't getting better....

Shoot. @graciesmom1003 , I think you got a deal. Mine was quite a bit more than that years ago. Or maybe I got took, lol. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy your new one.

$225 - what a stroke. But you got what you wanted so congrats!
thats why I love Costco - free delivery, install, take away your old appliance, and 2 year warranty. And best prices with 30 day price drop reimbursement guarantee

I think it was the installation alone that was $225-right?!
Its good too you were home while it had that burning smell. I guess that's why my mother said she never lets anything run while she isn't home.
I wish they did still have the dials!
And no jokes or dancing!![]()

yep, just the installation was $225. The dishwasher was on sale, but not free!

I hired my plumbing contractor to install our new one, two years ago. They are a little trickier (or they can be) than just plugging in a fridge or a range.
$225 is reasonable, especially if they haul the old one out. In my house, there had to be some modifications made to bring things up to code, and I know it cost more than that. Fitting the darn thing into cabinetry can be a challenge, too, but I would guess you measured.
We still have the dial mechanism! Works just fine, and the older style is not low profile, just like the rest of our old kitchen. You think white is bad - try "bisque".

Another person with a manual dishwasher- nothing computerized or push button. I'm sure it's original to the house- almost 20 years old and white.
Staying til it dies. Everything else is SS.

Thank goodness I have a very handy dh. $225 to plug it in and attach a hose is insane!!!

Holy cow--didn't even think about getting one at Costco!!! Mine is going on 19 years old and washes the dishes in warmish water then doesn't dry them--I have to hand dry most of the dishes which drives me insane. will look there--thanks!!!
