Re: buttermilk availability?

Just for the heck of it I added it to tomorrow's delivery order. It's out of stock, big surprise !

@MezzieStarr - Thanks for your reply—good to know some places still have multiple options available. Hope things improve here soon...

Re: buttermilk availability?

@Kachina624 - Thanks for your reply. I typically have no problem using up a quart, but at this point, I'd gladly take a half gallon if I could! It looks like I should probably keep checking on Walmart's inventory.

Re: buttermilk availability?

@Ronettes - Thanks for your reply. Sorry to hear you're having all kinds of shortages! The grocery store nearest to me is quite small, so I often have to travel farther to get specific items, but it would truly be frustrating for that to be the norm for so many things. Good luck...

Re: buttermilk availability?

We also have a terrible time locating it in our area. During the holidays, my mother makes a cake that requires it and it was nowhere to be found so she used vinegar and milk to make her own.

Re: buttermilk availability?

Buttermilk is available here in the CA desert.  No shortage issues.  I use it for baking, making smoothies and I also like to drink it straight up!  An acquired taste that I have had since childhood.

Re: buttermilk availability?

In the baking aisles of the grocery stores in my area there is something that is a powder buttermilk. It lasts for quite sometime. I keep some in my pantry until I open it and then in the fridge.

Re: buttermilk availability?

Bought buttermilk in Shoprite last week. A quart is $1.99. Use it to make ranch dressing.

Just curious what does everyone use buttermilk for?

@spumoni99

Biscuits? Pancakes? Just a guess!

Also buttermilk is great if your mouth breaks out from the acid in tomatoes!  Peroxide on a Q tip does the same!
