everyone wants to try to be a little greener, a little less wasteful.
So i'm in my kitchen the other day, and finished a bag of mini rice cakes or something. and I think wow, that's a perfectly good foil type bag. It just had the rice cakes in it, (lightbulb moment) I can reuse that!
I generally take my lunch to work, and always seem to take a handful of crackers, or cookies, or something. The bags that just had dry stuff in them (snacks, chips, cookies) my new mantra is "one more use" before the garbage can. I always have a container of clothespins in the kitchen for closing the bags.
I have also been looking at what can be reused for scooping my kitty litter. I usually buy lunch bags to scoop into, but have been rethinking/being more creative in that area as well.
Not to mention that the trash doesn't fill as fast. I can't tell if i'm leaving a smaller footprint, or just a little bored. ![]()

I love your thinking!!! Kitty litter....have you tried the pine pellet brands? I really liked the 'Feline Pine' in a green bag. Like it much better than the clumping type. You just scoop out the 'sawdust' every day to your normal trash...no smell. I've expanded my use for this, as well....I oil pull every night & spit out my used oil into a small jar of pine pellets. If you cook with oils, etc., just pour into a container of pine pellets for absorption.

I love your thinking, kitty. And this makes perfect sense to me. I go in phases. Sometimes I feel that I'm really being creative and resourceful about what I throw away or reuse and other times it's sadly, a bit more out of my mind. But when I can, I try to reuse!

Well you can think our family is nuts but - my hubby walks our 2 dogs every night. The area we live in has a very strict rule if your dog does its "business" you must pick up after them.
They have put in a number of dispensers of puppy mitts and a places to dispose of the mitts. Since our dogs do not always leave "it" by the disposal bins my hubby has been taking any bag that does not have a hole in it. We can use a lot of bread bags, bags that have items packed in received in the mail (clothing), different kinds of bags from the grocery store etc. We keep the extra bags in a bag holder in the garage by the backdoor.
Oh well - hope that is not too much info.

I save the empty large bags from cat food for the litter.
need a cover for a knife-save sturdy rolls from wax paper or paper towels-slide the knife in.
Every little thing we do to reuse something might help.
