Re: Your Turkey and Stuffing

I put onions, orange wedges, carrots and celery inside the turkey. It makes the gravy tastier, IMO.

Re: Your Turkey and Stuffing

Whole turkey, brined overnight, with quartered apples, quartered onions, and a cinnamon stick simmered in water, then drained and stuffed into the cavity. Turkey goes into the Nesco roaster.

Stuffing is always done in the crock pot. Cubed cornbread (home made the night before) then mixed with white and whole wheat bread cubes, lots of sauteed onion and bulk sausage, eggs, seasonings, and home made turkey broth (made earlier in the week from turkey wings).

Re: Your Turkey and Stuffing

I have always baked stuffing in the turkey but was wondering how long it takes to cook in a casserole in the oven

Re: Your Turkey and Stuffing

our daughter just got married so this year we will be dealing with the age old "in-law" issue for the first time. will they go to his parents' house or come to ours? they are 100 miles from us and about 40 miles from his. if it turns out to just be me and DH, I'll do a large turkey breast only. if they are coming here I'll do a small whole turkey and a breast. I have never stuffed a turkey. we always make cornbread dressing in a separate casserole dish. and I'll make plenty, either way. we love Thanksgiving leftovers.

I am doing a turkey breast. I make a pan of stuffing and set the breast on top and push it down into the stuffing.

I do a whole turkey and never stuff it .... stuffing on the side.

What I always do is pour in a can of undiluted Campbells French Onion soup inside the bird ..... not only does it season the turkey from the inside out, but the juices and the soup base make the BEST gravy! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

OMG! What a great idea. Do you put anything else in or around the turkey? Like vegetables? I will definitely steal your idea! :-) Thanks Tinkrbl44
