@Desertdi  Oh wow! We have the same sewing machine in our bedroom with a screen TV on it. I bought it and restored it over 40 years ago. It actually works! However, the machine head is stored in the belly of the table.

Only sort of problem I have with it is when I have to dust/clean all the metal pieces down below. grrrr. I tried the vacuum brush attachment and it just doesn't do the trick. Still have to get down there with a micro cloth.

I have my grandmother's similar machine and we've done the same thing as @Queen of shop - use it as a tv stand. The wood stand is much nicer than the one in the picture but the machine is very similar. My grandma taught me to sew on that machine so it's very dear to my heart.

Antique Singer sewing machine and desk. G series serial number. - Picture 1 of 13

@Desertdi. I learned to sew on my mom's Singer just like this one.   You had such great control with the precision speed control.  She later had a motor added.

Spoiler

@Kachina624  But if you don't pedal in a veeery steady rhythm, the thread breaks! Definitely harder than the electric powered machines that came later.

@Queen of shop @You might try buying a can of compressed air, it will blow the dust right out of any tight or small spaces. Used to use it to clean computers, etc.  Now, I use it for my oscillating fan motors, the delicate vents on the back of gaming consoles, the fridge motor when it gets dusty, etc.
