I made the carrot cake using a recipe from Sally's Baking Addition, which uses pineapple and walnuts. I also add raisins. It makes such a moist cake and the cream cheese icing, egads, I could eat it like pudding.

I do hear you about the calories. I haven't been able to get my normal running in and my new Levi's were a tad tight around the waist this morning. I am sure it's just the new jeans ran a little small, 😆

I don't do much cooking involving the oven when it gets above 90. Tends to keep appetite down too...at least for me. I am such a weather wimp. I don't know how you all survive the brutal hot summers and the freezing winters.

DH is still asleep, recovering from a long 24hrs.+ yesterday.  I made myself an egg, a strip of bacon, some leftover broccoli, and mug of coffee w/MCT oil.  I messed up my fasting schedule but will get back on track after lunch today. There are two servings of the pizza casserole left so we'll have that and a tossed salad.

@kate2357  Yes, I don't have much of an appetite these days due to the heat. I don't mind the winters here -- well, except for '21 -- but the summers are brutal. In fact, I've decided I'm going to move back north in about 18 months if the financials can align.

A minor break in the weather next week as we have about 4 days below 100 and it gets below 80 at night. We are all giddy with anticipation. LOL

Hot temps and smoke is returning today, so indoors we shall stay.

DH wants pancakes for dinner and this time he says he will make them from start to finish <insert teenage eyeroll>. I just have to get everything out for him and help him get situated so he can flip them. My new Levi's are a bit tight in the waist, so I will be having chicken salad lettuce roll ups. Watermelon for dessert.

Just sent trucker daughter off to Captain D's for fish, and to KFC for a breast meal for me!

Sorry that several of you are having the excessive heat. We are back to more mild temps with less humidity finally. Let's hope Sept. brings better days.

Grilling steaks and sweet corn. I will steam fresh green beans. Yesterday's coffee cake disappeared! So for dessert we'll have a fruit salad: blueberries, watermelon & a sweet canteloupe from our neighbor's garden.

@JeanLouiseFinch i hope you and DH are getting some rest and your family is recovering.  
@RedTop I haven't had Captain D's in forever. I like their fish we use to have one near us but they closed.  
DH is under the weather from the heat so yesterday DDIL made chicken noodle soup for him.  So that's what we had.  
We are suppose to get a break in the heat but I couldn't tell today.  I'm over it!

Another day over 100 degrees 🥵 it’s just miserable in this heat we went shopping for a new truck today neither one of us wanted much to eat , we just had chic fil A
My husband had regular chicken sandwich meal , I had the spicy chicken meal
2sisters I hope your husband feels better by tomorrow this heat is affecting so many people hopefully it’ll cool off a little soon

I'm so glad to hear that he's recovering in both body and spirit!
