Jeanlouisefinch I read your post saying your posting before August thread goes up and I'm like omg I totally forgot to start August . its been awesome weather with no humidity and temperatures in the 70s. Monday I cooked a stir fry of carrots and broccoli with a peanut butter and soy sauce with pasta and last night I made crunch wrap Supreme. Taco bell has them but I find homemade is better. Its ground hamburger cooked with taco seasoning. You put creamy cheddar cheese on a wrap then meat, then a toastarda shell, then shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes sour cream and or taco sauce and finally shredded taco cheese and you fold it up And grill it comes out delicious. Hope everyone has a great August.

Re: Whats cooking this august?

@Pooky1   lol  Very little here in my southern Florida home.  So glad I don't have to feed a family while it's so hot.  Yesterday I did see a 2 degree lower temperature, but there's not enough difference between 99 and 97 to persuade me to cook much.

@millieshops egad....97 or 99 degrees, is way too hot for me. I would be hiding indoors with ac running.

@Pooky1 I have never had a crunch  wrap supreme...but it sounds good. I am 100% sure your version would have to be better than any fast food place.

If dh is feeling better today, we will have spaghetti with Italian Sausage, salad, breadsticks. If he still feels queasy, the sauce will go in freezer and we will go to plan B. I don't actually know what plan B is yet.....but I will come up with something.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

Re: Whats cooking this august?

I wish someone would tell me what to cook each day, I love to cook but figuring out what to make is my downfall. We have a PA RV camper get together coming up and I need to make a covered dish. I think I will make a tortellini salad, made it for the family reunion and they liked it so will do it again. (wihout the red-pepper!)

Millieshops I get that totally. I could never live in Florida. Way to hot for me.I have a friend that she has a house in Massachusetts and she comes up here for the 3 hottest months and she loves hot weather but still comes up here to get away from it.I always tell her don't bring us that hot Florida weather please. The first few days she came down this year our temps were in the 60s and she said I have been frezzing since I got here and then our weather got super hot and humid.I said to her.didn't I tell you not to bring us your Florida weather.

Re: Whats cooking this august?

This is the month that I start cooking items for the freezer for later on in Fall.  That is my favorite time of year and I am always very busy, so it's nice to have ready-made cozy meals in the freezer ready to go when I am home.

Re: Whats cooking this august?

We are still at the beach and I am now able to eat a regular diet.  Today our DD who lives in DC will be coming to visit.  DD who lives at home will also be joining us.  DD that lives in DC is bringing her dog, Tilly which is going to totally freak out our cat, Keiko.  The two have never met.

My aunt who lives at the beach will be coming over as she wants to meet DD's dog.  Then we are all (sans animals) are going out to dinner to an Italian restaurant with a 3 course price fix menu.  We will get a choice of salad and pasta and a canoli.  We have not yet been to this restaurant yet so I hope it is good.

Re: Whats cooking this august?

No worries, @Pooky1   Life has a mind if its own and gets in the way sometimes.

DH and I are on the way to pick up a gift that I custom ordered.  We know a lady who makes gorgeous live edge charcuterie boards.  I've purchased several of them already and now I need another.

We had a simple lunch today.

BLT lettuce wraps with heirloom tomatoes and Primal Kitchen avocado mayo.
Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Pork Rinds

Chia Pudding w/Blackberries

This evening I'll be seasoning baby back ribs for tomorrow. 😋

I don't know how you all cook every day! Two meals that are planned for tomorrow & early next week are:

chicken & stuffing &

stuffed peppers

@Harpa  - We eat every day so some kind of food prep needs to be done daily.  I don't cook from scratch every day.  We don't mind leftovers at all, we like them, so lots of times it's cook once, eat twice.  I also usually have romaine and salad fixin's, bacon and hard cooked eggs available all the time, so if we don't feel like a big meal, a tossed salad, bacon and eggs, egg salad, or pulling lunchmeat, cheese, fresh veggies from the fridge are always options.  I don't know if you saw my post about cooking for our kids, to stock their freeze for when our new grandson arrives, but I was saying to DH last night, if I had enough gumption to cook like that for several days at the beginning of the month, for us, I could set up the freezer with a month's worth of meals that all I'd need to do is reheat and make a vegetable or salad.  It sounds good at first, but I doubt I'd keep up with it.
