Re: What's cooking this July in your kitchen?

Morning All Beautiful day here in ChiTown, last nite was TJ"s Steak Burrito, they're really good when you don't want to cook. I'll have to try the Birds Nests next time I go, I also love the Dorot's frozen garlic cubes, come in so handy. Heading to the grocery store this AM, maybe I'll get energized for supper, don't have a clue, but something easy as it's only me tonite, maybe a burger on the grill, Winifred makes me feel guilty with all her cooking, Soushi too, but not enough I guess LOL! So glad to see all of you here Take Care

Re: What's cooking this July in your kitchen?

Spix, I live here and often am geographically challenged. LOL. The recent fire is not not real near me at all - thank goodness. The North Fire last week was a lot closer. If you were looking at a map find San Bernardino, Redlands and look South/east on I-10. Then comes Yucaipa, Calimesa, Cherry Valley, Beaumont, Banning and THEN Palm Springs. I am right in the middle - in Calimesa - I know, you have NEVER heard of it. Small community and the only thing that separates Yucaipa and Calimesa is a road - one side is Yucaipa and San Bernardino County and the other side of the road is Calimesa, Riverside County. Isn't that the dumbest thing you have ever heard of. To the east of me is mountains, the south, deserts, West in about 50 miles is the ocean and north is the San Bernardino area - go there entirely too many times a week - that is where the Sam's Club is I go to. Now you all have a good view of one part of Sou Cal. TJ's is in Redlands. You absolutely would find it next to impossible to live out here without a car. Public transportation is not good at all. We have no school buses where I live and NO city buses - so hard on the kids and parents. Same with Yucaipa as we are in the same school district. Dumbest thing the school district ever did was to ditch the buses - they needed more salaries for teachers and the administrative staff.

Am heating up the leftovers from last night - or was it the night before - at any rate the Fridge is stuffed with food and I need to get some eaten

Re: What's cooking this July in your kitchen?

Hi all and a Good Morning,

Another wonderful day of weather. No breeze in the 70's, sun shinning and birds loving the bird seed in the feeder. Really enjoy seeing them.

Went to dinner with the ladies last night at AppleBee's. Had their Asian Salad, very good. Then we were on to the theatre. It is music in the round and we saw "The Adams Family". It was so good! Costumes, sing, chorography, stage setting all above par. Just great. Wasn't sure what to expect.

Lazy today. Not dressed yet, just hanging out with Nelson. Just saw this recipe so I copied it. Looks good.

Crockpot Pizza Chicken

Shredded chicken cooked in the slow cooker with all of the flavors of your favorite pizza. Lo-carb and kid-friendly.

Ingredients

1 package of boneless skinless chicken breast (~1.5 lbs)

1 (14 oz) jar of pizza sauce

¼ cup water

28 pieces of pepperoni

1 small green pepper diced

2 cups mozzarella cheese

Instructions

Add all ingredients* except cheese to crockpot. Cook on high for 4.5 - 5 hours or on low for 8. Turn crockpot on high and shred the chicken with a fork in the sauce. Add cheese to the top of the chicken. Place lid back on and wait for cheese to melt (about 10 minutes).

Re: What's cooking this July in your kitchen?

Good Morning Preds and a Happy Sunday to you too!!!

Spix, I live in an area which just keeps changing. Once beautiful hillsides and landscaping and now so much is gone with stacking homes on them - so ugly - and the drought on top of that. Redlands was solid orange groves - and I am not kidding - ALL gone. We had orange and peaches - all gone. Near us in the HIlls is Oak Glen, they still have apples but not as many as when I came here. This was very rural and many people moved here from the big cities because of that but once they got here they wanted it like the city so there the once gorgeous area went downhill. Made no sense.

I fixed fried summer squash for dinner last night. Also warmed up the remainder of the chicken in gravy. I ate only the squash as growing up that is the way we did it. When we had fried veggies that was usually the only thing for our meal except in some cases cornbread. It was so good and I have plenty left for sandwiches. Hey, it may sound weird but not really - it is very very good.

Heating up out here and the humidity is coming back with a bang. Sigh. We may have some rain on Thurs or Fri - believe it when we see it. Hope it is not a few drops or that will just make things really bad.

Hope all have a great day.

Re: What's cooking this July in your kitchen?

Morning all,

Another beautiful day in Indiana. All is peaceful outside. We have read the Sunday paper and had our morning coffee. Need a bite to eat yet then will start our day.

Breakfast out yesterday. Had hamsalad sandwiches and snacked most of the day. Did have sliced melon but it was disappointing. Really no taste. That happens with melons, you never know till you cut it up.

Will head to church for late service, then have our usual chicken at the local Richard's restaurant. A good meal of broasted chicken, salad bar, potato for $6.99. Then a nap! Just finished my latest book, "The English Spy" by Daniel Silva. Always a good read.

Best to all, enjoy this day.
