Re: What's cooking this July in your kitchen?

Looks like everyone is staying out of their kitchens today.  Including me.  It was supposed to be very mild and not humid today. Wrong.   I'm trying to get geared up for my eye appointment tomorrow. Glad it is early.  I'm always uneasy before any appointments and my calendar has been full of them this month until the next one.

Re: What's cooking this July in your kitchen?

I had to stay out of my kitchen yesterday - no electricity for 14 hours - just miserable. One of the wildest storms I have ever experienced - trees uprooted, hail, things flying, you name it and NO electricity. It was literally off more than 14 hours as I had to start the saving energy thing - NO ELECTRICITY use except fans perhaps starting at 2 p.m. So actually had almost 17 hours of horrible heat and misery. Bless them, they got it back on this morning - I have been in hog heaven now for about 30 minutes. YES!!!

House is a disaster, mess everywhere - well what do you do when you cannot see or move well?

Have a good day everyone.

Okay, wasn't going to start with another whine BUT, what happened to signing in here? First asked for my email address, then wanted my QVC number, which I typed in, that was rejected. Had to apply for new password. Then come back, type in email address and new password. Come here and the posts aren't in order. And they wonder why we complain?

Had acupuncture for my nerve in lower back for the first time yesterday. Stopped at local fish place to order take out and extra cold slaw. Came home and no cold slaw but double tarter sauce. But was still good.

9 of us going out to night to dinner. Yock, we are going to Fort Wayne to Don' Hall's Factory. Wanted to go to the Gas House, called yesterday and they were completely booked. Something going on downtown?

Hot and humid here, had our front tree trimmed. Was treated last year for Elm disease and I think it is going to back it!!

What happened to spell check here?

Gosh we were at Triangle Park tonight.    The Factory used to be our Go To Place but we enjoy Triangle.  Yes indeed there is something going on.  Mary Poppins! She plays through Sunday and since the Gas House is just down the street that's where they go.  Have you ever been to Club Soda.   Pretty neat just down a ways from Gas House

Re: What's cooking this July in your kitchen?

Using the crock pot tonight as we are going to be spending a lot of time today doing work around the house and yard.

I have Honey-Barbecued Chicken Drumsticks in the crock pot. Recipe is from The Great American Slow Cooker Book by Bruce Weinstein and Mark Scarbrough. I believe this cookbook was originally hawked here on QVC, but I could be wrong.  Anyway, I made the large amount--for a 6-8 quart crock pot. There are only two of us for dinner tonight, so the leftovers will go into the freezer for other meals later on when we don't feel like cooking.

With our chicken, I have a small bowl of potato salad in the fridge and we shall have a couple ears of freshly-picked corn from the garden and some mint iced tea.

Re: What's cooking this July in your kitchen?

It all sounds good. I need to decide what to fix for dinner as I promised to take dinner to a friend.

Sad story, husband was a former teacher at my school. He now has a form of dementia and she is his care giver. She broke down and cried when talking to me Sunday at church.

Sometimes it is so hard on those who have the job of caring for a loved one. At times you are frustrated and angry but then fill guilty for those feelings. I know, I'm there again.

Think I'll make the baked meatballs. We like them and haven't had them for awhile. I have the hamburger thawed. Maybe brownies and a salad will be sides. And garlic bread too.

PamSue72, you do come back now, you hear! We would love to have you join us.
