Re: What's Cooking in October 2017 - trying to get month correct

Anyone left here at the Cooking area? LOL. Had a Bologna sandwich AND some great potato salad - am stuffed. Looking forward to a good night's sleep. That never really happens as I wake up every couple hours. Sure wish I could sleep straight thru - would be nice.

Hope all had a great day and everyone ate very well!

Re: What's Cooking in October 2017 - trying to get month correct

Pooky, most all my appliances came from Sears - good reason for that. Per instructions from my parents eons ago they also said to ALWAYS purchase their maintenance services - I do that also. Will say, however, as seldom as I have had to use them thru the years I was so very disappointed when they stopped carrying parts with them on their trucks - certainly delayed the process. Now they order, comes to you and you have to call them to tell them the part is at your house and then you wait some more. I do NOT like that change at all. Nevertheless hope they get you up and running quickly.

Reason I buy appliances from them as many many years ago Sears was the ONLY company that would ship things to the military and their families overseas. I remember living in Germany and when those BIG BOXES came in it was a happy day for one and all. My Dad said to thank them by buying from them - have never forgotten that marvelous service. Times have changed now but there was a long time when THEY were the leader in helping military families overseas when it came to Christmas, BDs, etc.

Will probably put a roast in the slow cooker with some veggies keeping it company. Davey's BD was yesterday and was impressed as his Dad drove up here and literally baked him a BD cake - That was good.

Have a great day everyone.

Re: What's Cooking in October 2017 - trying to get month correct

What a challenging meal I prepared tonight.

I began making the Asian recipe I made a week or so ago, with the gr, beef and spiraled zucchini, but decided to use ground turkey and another vege instead of the zucchini.

I sauteed the turkey, and tasted, icky, tasted like meat that had been in the freezer too long, so this was the challenge.  I added the sauce, no change.  I then added a ton of green oonions, no change.  I added a ton of no heat red chiles from the freezer, getting better.

I had a container of spicy cashews, toasted almonds, and sesame bits, corn nuts had been eaten. I pick those out, lol,  so decided to chop these and add.  Tasting even better.  I then added shredded cabbage, but the piastre de resistance was fresh cilantro, as I knew if this would be the big difference, and it was, so DH will have a decent meal afterall, lol, on rice.

It tastes so great that I can't stay out of it, LOL.

Re: What's Cooking in October 2017 - trying to get month correct

Hi everyone, I haven't been here in awhile I was so  busy with the start of school. I try to make dinnners that are easy, roasts in the crock pot...etc. I woke up in the mood for pizza and just made a mushroom pizza on a thin crust. I got a thin crust yesterday at the Dollar Tree. I never thought I would buy groceries from a dollar store but this crust was so good, I will be buying again. I also bought some frozen spring rolls in a pack of 10, they tasted just like they came from the chinese resaurant. I heated up 2 at a time as a snack. I am not as exciting as you all are, forgive me, my husband likes meat and potatoes and he has many food allergies. I love hearing about what you have cooked though!

@Pooky1

Hi pooky1,

Do you eat the broccoli rabe sandwich just between bread and some sort of sandwich spread? Eat it raw or cooked in the sandwich?
