Re: What cooking this december?

The pulled pork came out good.  I had DH taste it and I had a bite too.   I only added the juice back to it, not any sauce yet.  I always let everyone add their own.  Our DSIL wants to smoke a brisket for our family Christmas too.  They don’t have a Costco or Sam’s membership so I said I’d go buy it  and get it to them for him to prepare.   I tried calling both warehouses, thinking I'd try to order one, but couldn’t get through to either place.  The phone just rang and rang.  I called a local meat packer that has a retail side - I should have just called them from the start.  They have a 8.5 lb. brisket set aside that will be sufficient but are watching for a bigger one, just in case.  I'll be picking up Friday.

Small ribeyes are thawing and mushrooms are washed and ready to be sauteed for our lunch today.

Re: What cooking this december?

Good morning everyone.  It has warmed up overnight temps around 30 but nice out. just had oatmeal with brown sugar and a little milk. Monday I made peach pecan french toast. I had to put it together in the morning and refrigerate it so actual cooking Was very easy. Just had to make topping to put on the last 10 minutes of cooking. Topping was cold buttrr, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Yestauday I made dough in the bread maker for personal deep dish pizza. Have a great day everyone.

Re: What cooking this december?

Heat wave here too, already 38*.  It's going to be even warmer tomorrow and rainy so all the snow and slush will be gone.  It looks like the temperatures will bounce around Friday thru Sunday but then be unseasonably warm all Christmas week. No white Christmas here this year.

The meat packer called a little while ago.  They were able to get a bigger brisket for me from what they processed yesterday.  They're going to stick it in the freezer and I'll pick it up tomorrow.  There's something special about dealing with local businesses.

I have a massage scheduled this morning and then a chiropractor adjustment right afterwards in the same office.  I have to mail a package at post office afterwards.  I won’t be home until close to 1:00 so lunch will be quick and easy - ham, mushroom & Swiss cheese omelets, sautĂ©ed shredded Brussels sprouts, mini avocado half, then a zero sugar yogurt for my dessert.

Re: What cooking this december?

Good morning everyone. We have warmed up allso. Tomorrow were getting a Hugh rain storm so glad its going to be in the 50s. Just had mini muffins for breakfast. Yestauday I had leftovers for lunch and dinner with fruit and a snack after. I couldn't go back so sleep just briefly after ria left so I got up at 5. Ria was going to make chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter cookies for work for tomorrow. I said when are you going to have time to make cookies. I said I will make them Thursday.  I had the mobile groomer come out and groom coco. She was looking on the raggy side and needed a gowork earlod bath.my brother and his girlfriend are coming over satauday for Christmas. I'm not cooking but we are ordering food for us. Ria is working yestauday but she said she will leave work earlier than she usually does. Have a great day everyone.

Re: What cooking this december?

It’s warm and raining.  That’s going to continue mostly all day and then temps will plunge overnight, making everything icy tomorrow.  We just had a momentary power interruption, off and immediately back on, so now all the alarm clocks, oven, and microwave need to be reset. 🙄

I’m picking up that brisket this morning.  The place isn’t too far, about a fifteen minute drive.  When I get back I need to get busy with wrapping gifts and doing laundry.  I thought I’d have tomorrow to devote to that but we ended up with a change of plans.  My sister who is in AL called Tuesday asking for our help.  It’s a two hour drive each way besides being up there several hours, but DH has a warm heart for her and said OK.  His work schedule is light right now so that’s not an issue.  The only thing that will prevent us from going will be the road conditions.  It will be a full day nonetheless.  DH does want to watch a football game at 7:00 so we need to be home by then.

DS and the kids will be here this afternoon.  I’m making classic wedge salads with sliced strips of ribeye for the adults.  I have options for the grandkids.

[ Edited ]

I'm having a Christmas lunch with a friend.  Not sure where we will go yet. Maybe Red Robin or Applebees.  I have leftovers for SO for today.  My kitchen is now officially under construction, so I'll be using the microwave, toaster oven and crockpot.  With Christmas next week, he probably won't finish.  Then my countertops are a separate contractor.  It might be a month total.
