I'm a great cook (not meant to brag at all), but a terrible baker.  Conversely, my sister is a terrible cook, but a sensational baker.  Sadly, we will not be together with our families for Thanksgiving (but we will for Christmas).

I'm going to make buttermilk biscuits the day before Thanksgiving, early enough in the day to try a 2nd batch when/if the 1st are atrocious.  Not even thinking about attempting desserts.

Will you try out a new recipe before a holiday or just "wing it" and see how it goes on the holiday?

Since I taught Foods and Adv. Foods, there are very few I have to "dry run first".

(Although I love the results!)!!!

Sometimes I will try something new for a holiday.

Like you, I can tell when something will most likely work out.

I have been cooking and baking for a very long time now.

If something seems dubious regarding a recipe, I may be adventerous and try it out anyway, and if it doesn't work out, I know not to try it again. Smiley Very Happy
