Haven't bought Bisquick for a very long time.  Is it in a sealed package inside those boxes or just loose?  When I know the product in a box is not in a sealed bag, I decant it before I put it on the pantry shelf.  I have been living in humid areas way too long not to be leary!

After my last Bug Fiasco, I was told to keep packages of flour etc in the freezer.  Bugs won't stand a chance.

@Tinkrbl44   One large corner of my freezer hold plastic containers of flours, sugar, and a black cashmere sweater.

Re: Watch your Bisquick

[ Edited ]

Hi, @SharkE !

When we lived on the Big Island of Hawaii recently, I had to keep Bisquick and any kind of flour in our freezer or I'd have bugs when I went to use it.  I hate to say it it but I believe the bug eggs are in the Bisquick and flours.

ETA:  I think humidity is a huge factor in how fast the actual bugs appear.  It was quite humid where we lived in Waikoloa even though we were on the dry side of the island.

I always thought the bug eggs were in the glue on the seams of the package; upon purchase I put the flour etc into plastic containers and never have a problem with bugs.

I store Bisquick in the refrigerator. I use it infrequently, but years after the expiration date, it is still as good as new. And, never any bugs.

I mainly use it for a very old recipe, "Impossible Pie".

It is all done in a blender.

If it had never been opened, why would you throw it out without contacting them first.
