@JeanLouiseFinch Your dentist is a good man.  Several years ago, I had a crown that wasn't sealed properly, and I ended up needing an implant.  Nothing given by the dentist that caused it.  He later was diagnosed with dementia, and then passed within a few years. I was never able to recoup costs.  His nephew is now my dentist, and at times, I think he cut me some slack on costs.  When I chose this new dentist, I had no idea he was his nephew.  Good luck moving forward.

Wow, that really stinks, @lynnie61.  The original dentist probably shouldn't have been practicing.  Thanks for the well wishes.  Yes, it's a long process but I'm a weirdo who actually enjoys going to the dentist.  Not for the work, but I enjoy everyone in the office.  Even if I'm not seeing a particular person on a given day they still pop in and say hi anyway.

No cooking here tonight. DH's birthday is Saturday so we are going out to dinner tonight because he wants to watch a basketball game on Saturday. Cold and snowing again today.

Re: WHaTs cOOKING iN FEBUARY?

DH and I are taking a trip next month so I finished getting all the details finalized yesterday.

DS comes today.  I thawed a flank steak and will be marinating it for a few hours, then grilling it for fajitas using zero carb tortillas that I found at Sam’s.  I’ll grill peppers and onions and serve the usual toppings with them.  Pork rinds with guacamole and salsa on the side.  I have kid options for the grands.  If there are leftovers DS can take them.

Leftover meatloaf and potatoes for us.  I may make some vegetable beef soup for the freezer.   I bought a red velvet roll cake.  I haven't baked much lately.

We will be near 45 today.  23 days till spring.

Re: WHaTs cOOKING iN FEBUARY?

Putting in the grocery order now.  Planning to have chili, ham/potato salad/baked beans, raviolis and bbq chicken.  On Wednesday when DH goes to his blues jam, I will make myself rotini pasta with goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes.

DD did get an autism diagnosis on Monday.  This is on top of her diagnoses of ADHD, anxiety and bipolar disorder.  She is planning to change her psycho therapist and psychiatrist to professionals at the autism program at the hospital where she was diagnosed so they can coordinate her care as a neurodivergent individual.  DD has been really struggling with both her mental and physical health.  Physically she has been having fainting episodes.  Seizures have been ruled out and we are in the process of finding out if it POTS.  She has had only one episode since she lost her job at Starbucks so I think the prolonged standing she had to do on the job was contributing to the fainting episodes which makes believe all the more she has POTS.

Re: WHaTs cOOKING iN FEBUARY?

@ninjawife - my, when it rains it pours.  I'm sorry, both for your daughter and also for you and your husband. I've heard it's more difficult to get an ADHD diagnosis on adults as opposed to kids, but I don't know if that's true.  No matter their age, It's so hard to watch our kids struggle and feel helpless.  Getting an actual diagnosis puts you all in a better position of getting the correct kind of care.  I hear more and more of young adults dealing with things that were never even part of the conversation when I was their age, starting with bullying in school to demands of adulthood that they aren't always prepared for, increased alcoholism, substance abuse, increased diagnoses of anxiety, body image, life stress, you name it.  Our girl has had her own struggles too but not to the level of yours.  Still, it's territory we never imagined she or we would be in.  I wish you all the best. 🙏

Our fajitas yesterday were fantastic!  I will be making them again, sooner than later!  I’m kinda sorry I told DS he could take the leftovers home 😉.  DGD asked for a chicken quesadilla but she also asked to try some of the flank steak and then asked for more.  She’s becoming more adventurous with food these days.

Today DH and I are having an big salad with steak.

@JeanLouiseFinch Thank you.  DD has had the ADHD diagnosis since kindergarten and the anxiety diagnosis since middle school when she was first assessed for autism but at that time didn't meet the criteria which in retrospect should have been diagnoised then.  Not only will DD be eligible for services though the autism program at the hospital but will be eligble for accomodations for taking her esthetician licensure test (which she has had trouble passing) but also services from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation
