Mmmm berry.

I still think the most striking color was turquoise, but I would be afraid of eventually getting tired of it.

Okay, I hear what many are saying about the importance of the variable speeds. I have TWO Vitamix machines, both with variable speeds. My family and I use our Vitamix everyday. HOWEVER, the Vitamix is so life-changing with just making soups, smoothies, veggie juices, flours, peanut butter, frozen yogurt, etc and all of this can be made fine without a variable speed option. To overcome not having a variable option, just simply cut whatever you are putting in (orange, onion, butternut squash, etc. in quarters before putting into the machine. The motor is so powerful, it will puree easily.

This TSV is SUCH a good deal with the dry container and several cookbooks included, I hate to see people pass on the opportunity to purchase a life-changing machine at such a good value. I think the person who has hesitated on a VITAMIX due to cost AND needs to make a change in their eating and will change, should go for it.

For motivation to change, check out: http://www.fatsickandnearlydead.com/

This guy juiced but I think eating raw with Vitamix is better. One should never hesitate to invest money in their health.

The 29.00 ninja that qvc has as a tsv about 1 yr ago, in different colors, is great!! No need to spend a huge amount just to blend food, imo!!!

No disrespect peggy9cats, but I have a NINJA as well that I purchased as a TSV from QVC and there is no comparison between a NINJA and a Vitamix. In this case, you do get what you pay for. The NINJA isn't as powerful and it does not make soups.

I had a better model of the Ninja. The Pulse model sold by QVC. No matter what I did, or how long I processed I could not make a smoothie you didn't have to chew using mature kale and carrots. The new, much more powerful model might do it, but it's a heck of a lot more than $29.99 and it's not built to last. I returned the Ninja TSV and got the Vitamix 7500 on another awesome QVC TSV. I couldn't be happier and have never looked back! Blends anything you throw at it completely and smoothly!

I also have the variable speed Vitamix and even though I paid more (on QVC) it is well worth the flexibility. Just another point to consider. Measure your counter height! TSV may well be too tall to fit under your cabinets. Mine is the shorter Vitamix but is still the full 64oz. Capacity.

It's not that easy to compensate for the lack of a variable speed control. For example, when I make a frittata, I chop the veggies, remove them, then I put the all the eggs, cream, and seasonings in the container and set it for variable speed one; then I turn the machine on, walk away and let the VM blend the egg mixture for me. Theoretically, it should be possible to do this with a two-speed machine set on low; however, the low speed isn't low enough.

There are times when you want to gently mix ingredients, not whip them, you just can't do that with a two speed machine. The same is true for chopping veggies and hard cheese. With a variable speed control, you can set the speed at 3 and just drop the chunks in while the machine does the work. Without the variable speed control, your only option is to pulse the machine. Also, when making soups and/or smoothies, there are times that you need to de-foam the soup or smoothie. With the variable speed control, you can easily do this by running the machine at the lowest possible speed (1) and then gradually increasing the speed until a vortex is created, then let the vortex pull in and eliminate the bubbles... you just can't do that with a two speed machine.

Yes, much of what you can do with a variable speed control can be done with a two speed machine, but you do have to use methods to compensate, one way or another, for the lack of a variable speed control, if you want to do more than make smoothies, purees, and frozen desserts.

The deal breaker for me is the NOISE...especially on those multi-minute soup preparations!! My head was splitting! I noticed they put a mic on Jan like a headset so you can hear what he's saying over the blasting noise, and I also noticed they put several machines in a plastic casing to try and tamp it down...

I see what you are saying about vitamix- I just use my little ninja for basic things like a smoothie and it does great bread crumbs! I really do not need anything more advanced at this time, but for those that do, I guess the vitamix is the way to go.
