Vitamix Christmas present or TSV in January?

I may put a Vitamix on my Christmas list; however, I see QVC has Vitamix as a TSV on January 4. Should I wait? Any of you with Vitamixes have an opinion? I see so many different variations, I'm rather confused. I think I will use it primarily for blending smoothies, particularly green kale smoothies, and soups. I may also make nut butters. Do I need two jars? Tall and short? Only one? WHich one?

Re: Vitamix Christmas present or TSV in January?

I bought my Vitamix 2 years ago directly from Vitamix. The model is the TurboBlend VS and was marketed to Vegans/Vegetarians. It's still available. Per Vitamix:

Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or turning over a new raw, vegan, or vegetarian leaf, the TurboBlend® VS is just the tool for you. Easily create a new variety of dishes with tremendous flavor and nutrition, from Tropical Avocado Salsa to Chocolate Dream Pie.

Live Fresh recipe book contains hundreds of raw, vegan, and vegetarian recipes.

Includes DVD cooking class hosted by raw food author Ani Phyo.

64-ounce container quickly processes whole-food smoothies, soups, frozen desserts, and more.

Filtration Bag is perfect for juicing, sprouting, and preparing nut milks.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think this Blender is that much different than what QVC offers other than you get a Vegan/Vegetarian cookbook and nut bag. This came with the 64oz container. Since it is just me, I found I didn't use the 64oz much unless I was making enough for 2 smoothies or trying to make a large batch of salsa or some dip. I therefore bought the 48oz container and use that for my single serving smoothie.

Since it sounds like you mainly want this for smoothies and soup, the size container will depend on how many servings you want to be able to make at one time. I found use for both size containers and glad I have both.

Edited to add: I use the 64oz container to make Almond Milk since I like to make enough to last at least 4-5 days.

I too was not 100% sure I would use mine everyday and would only use for smoothies and soup. Took the advice of several people on this board and purchased a refurbished one from the vitamix website. Perfect condition, lots of money saved and also comes with a warranty. Glad I went this way as I do use it but not nearly as often as I thought I would.

I am sorry if this appears twice. Does anyone know which model is the TSV in 1/4/2015?

Thank you
