Velveeta is NOT cheese. It is a pseudo, faux, false dairy product. Supermarkets these days sell wonderful cheeses, domestic and imported. I prepare mac and cheese for my grandchildren making a roux and adding milk and real cheese. They love it!

It's delicious if you cut it up in cubes and add a can of the Rotel diced tomatoes with peppers and then microwave until the Velveeta melts.

Makes a great dip for crackers or tortilla chips!

I make this once a year around Christmas time! I put mine in a crock pot & always add ground beef(cooked) and/or breakfast sausage cooked & crumbled to the cheese mixture with the Rotel. WOW!! Usually have the makes m&c"scoop" kind of chips with it, it is so very good! The crock pot keeps the mixture nice & soft!

The Rotel dip is the only thing I use Velveeta for as well. I use an electric fondue pot and it works great to keep it warm and melted. I also sometimes add some Jimmy Dean Hot Sausage cooked up, drained and crumbled in. It gives the dip some spice and a nice kick. We always prepare it for Super Bowl parties. I haven't found any other uses for Velveeta other than as a doorstop.

I like the "hot" sausage also but sometimes I will mix in the hamburger meat just for a change! When I make mac& cheese, I do use Veleeta, IMO, nothing makes for a good M & C! It is soooo creamy! I don't bake mine, just add everything on top of the stove until Velveeta is melted with some milk. Only have that a few times a year these days tho.

The Le Burger Brasserie restaurant (located at The Paris hotel/casino in Las Vegas) offers Velveeta cheese as one of the cheese options for cheeseburgers. I chuckled when Server mentioned this as a cheese option. However, she said that it is a very popular menu item. Thought it was interesting. (By the way, the meat options for the burger include Wagyu, Kobe, etc.) Smile

Velveeta isn't even real cheese, is it? I thought it was some over processed fake For $7 you can buy a very nice cheese - and it would really be cheese!

paShar: Excellent tip. I've index-carded it!

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
