I remember those plates!  When you said colors of the southwest, I immediately got a mental picture of them.  The reddish one stands out in my mind for some reason.  They're long gone, but we used them when the kids were growing up.  I had forgotten they were from Tupperware. Thanks for the memories!

@shoesnbags - We still use them almost every day for something- snacks, crackers with soup, sandwiches, etc! I love the colors of them. I'm glad you remember them too!  Smiley Happy

Re: Tupperware is going belly up

i still buy pieces of tupperware. i have two friends that sell tupperware, but havent heard a peep from them about the business being in trouble. while they do do in person parties, most of what they sell are done via online parties on facebook.

my most recent purchases were their jello mold and their large veggie/dip serve and store (cannot remember the exact name.)

the products are not cheap, but they ARE very good in quality and they last.

i ALWAYS have these in my "gift closet." a classic!

Re: Tupperware is going belly up

I saw the USA Today article on Facebook this morning. I absolutely love Tupperware. Not a fan of Lock N Lock.

Anyway, I bought a few pieces (new) on Amazon this morning.  Every single drinking glass I have in my house is Tupperware.  Juice glass size and up in size from there.

Like another poster, I still have the yellow strainer. It is the only strainer I own.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I don't store food in plastic.  Did Tupperware ever branch out into glass?  IMO one less company producing plastic is a good thing.  I realize this is probably not a popular opinion here.

Over the years, I've had Tupperware, glass, went full Lock-n-Lock, and now back to glass with only a little plastic.

Re: Tupperware is going belly up

I hate to hear this news.  The majority of my Tupperware is old and has held up great, altho I did toss some items in the last year.  My oldest pieces are a canister set Mamaw bought for my hope chest in 1973.

Based on the old and new pieces I have, the quality of Tupperware has remained strong.  I do not feel the same about Lock and Lock.  I see and feel considerable difference in my first pieces bought around 2010 and pieces bought within the last 3 years.  Some lids don't fit as well, silicone seals are thinner, and prices are higher.

Thankfully I'm at the age where "I have enough of everything I need" and no longer would be considered a consumer of either product.

We don't seem to be able to get away from the plastic lids, do we?

Re: Tupperware is going belly up

I don't believe I have purchased Tupperware in over 20 years.

After seeing this post out of curiousity I checked the Tupperware website - Yikes the prices are really high compared to other products on the market which have the same function.

Re: Tupperware is going belly up

I think it's my fault. I used to be a huge Tupperware fan, had several in home parties and attended many more.  I haven't looked for it at all since finding L&L.

Sorry, Tupperware.
