Re: Tupperware is going belly up

Sad to read this! I remember going to Tupperware parties with my Mom as a little girl, and, then having  parties at my house.

I guess nothing lasts forever!

As a child, the best thing about my mother hosting Tupperware parties was the left-over bridge mix and other candy.

Re: Tupperware is going belly up

I had a friend who sold Tupperware and asked me to host a party.  I did and invited a group of ladies I worked with.  I did not know at the time, that based on amount of sale, I qualified for specific gifts (containers) since I hosted the party.  Still use the containers today.  That was in the late 70s.

So sad to lose a product that became a "standard" through the years.  I especially loved their wonderful children's sipper cups and still have newer pieces, like "3 nested bowls" with the best potato salad bowl EVER!

@ECBG  I thought the Tupperware child's sippy cup was great. Simple design and easy to wash. We kept several around for a long while in case visitors forgot their kid's cup.

Our grandsons used those cups for orange juice when they would spend the weekend.

Can't remember when I last purchased actual Tupperware.  I had a boatload of Lock-n-Lock.  Some of the sets included seldom used sizes and I have had flaps break off over time. Yesterday I packed leftovers for our kids in L-n-L and told them I didn't the containers back. I'm clearing out most if it and am transitioning to using glass storage.

Re: Tupperware is going belly up

The parties got popular sometime in the 1960s but when I moved into my neighborhood when it was brand new in 1992, we had tons of them.  It seemed like there was a party not just fr Tupperware, but for everything else under the sun.  It got to be that I dreaded the party invite.

As many as there were for several years they seemed to suddenly disappear.

It is sad about Tupperware though....an American icon.
