Sad to hear this.  I remember such fun at the Tupperware parties back in the day.

Re: Tupperware is going belly up

Their items are so expensive and those home parties are not the

"thing" anymore.  I have seen Tupperware on Amazon, but the prices have held me back from buying.

Their products are pretty good, but I have had several older pieces crack in the past few years, so it doesn't last forever.  I'll hate to see them go, though.

Re: Tupperware is going belly up

I still have many Tupperware pieces that I got at parties in the '70's.  They're as good as new and I've used them for 50 years.  Very sad to see another company go under.

That's a shame.  Chris Pryme must be celebrating this morning.  I read that they've expanded into Target in the last year or so, but it seems to have been too little too late.  They'd should have developed other retail channels, even at the expnse of traditional Tupperware parties. And, I don't recall ever seeing advertising for Tupperware.

Re: Tupperware is going belly up

I never went to a Tupperware party. I didn't know what it was until after I was married because my mom used Rubbermaid. But my MIL started giving me Tupperware as presents.

I ordered some when they had a booth at the local fair.

But my favorite thing is a set of 6 square lunch plates in colors of the southwest. I got them before my children were born and we STILL use them! Some have a few knife marks on them, then there is the famous clay-colored one that DH put in the microwave when he didn't know better, but they are part of our family history!  Smiley Wink

Just sad to hear another American institution going out.

I was remembering some of the " parties" I went to years ago. Tupperware, Princess House, some kind of wall decor, Mary Kay, and home clothing parties ( was it called Queensway ? )

Interesting.   An older brand that fails to connect with younger consumers and needs to seek more modern forms of reach and distribution.

Sounds familiar to me.

Not surprised. I bought some last year at Target and returned them. Quality went downhill. I could not get the lids on them no matter how hard I tried. I even sat on one and the lid did not fit. Fortunately they were empty when I was trying. I can't imaging putting lids on them full of food. I'll stick with my Rubbermaid.

Re: Tupperware is going belly up

I'm so sorry to read this....I love some of their things, and if anything they were all too well made. I have had many of my pieces for 38 years, I got them right after we were married. I do not like lock n' lock so I guess I will be on the look out for leftover containers.
