A lot! I don't like Salmon. But I've been eating the farm raised salmon.
Just yesterday while baby sitting at my daughter's, for the twins, I had some Alaskan salmon patties. Wow! a world of difference and it tasted good!
Now I see why Dr. Weil says never to eat farm raised.
This Alaskan Salmon was bought at Sam's Club.

I have a problem eating farm raised salmon. They're raised in poluted waters and eat their........, well, you know.
I'm sure wild salmon do also, but not so much.
I've read that farm salmon are 46% more calories, mostly fat, because they are given a highly processed feed to make them bigger.
Either way they have health benefits, but I can take a pass.

Plus, I think they have to dye farm raised salmon pink, since they don't get the krill in their diet that the wild fish do. Farm raised salmon has grey flesh.

I try to never say never, but in the case of salmon, they are the type of fish that should move freely through fresh water, not hemmed up in a farm. Not all farm raised fish are bad. Depends on the fish and the farmer.

I would never eat farm raised salmon because I've heard too many awful things about it that are gross and unhealthy. The wild salmon is much healthier, and I do eat that.

Alaskan wild salmon is the best especially if flash frozen on the ship. Farm raised salmon are kept in small cages with many salmon in the same cage and are fed a diet of antibiotics since they are more susceptible to disease due to their confined cages. They also eat their excrement since they are so tightly packed in the cages. Disgusting to say the least! Also, be sure to read where the salmon is processed on the package. Even though it is caught in the Pacific Ocean, it could be processed in China or another Asian country.

@gloriajean Yep. I don't eat farm raised fish anymore. And with salmon, it gets even trickier. Try to get fresh caught salmon in season. The seasons for different kinds of salmon don't last long, so you have to know your fish provider. Once you have in-season fresh salmon, you won't want anything else!

NEVER would I buy any seafood, that is farm raised or from any suspect countries. I will pay more, gladly, for wild, sustainably caught and processed fish from reputable people. I live in the pacific northwest where the seafood is superb anyway.

Thank you for your responses. Yes, I have found out that the taste is so much better with the Salmon patties that are Alaskan Wild.
I have stopped buying Salmon or anything else farm raised.

Just today DH picked up a frozen wild-caught Alaskan salmon filet at our local supermarket. The price was low, too low. So I checked and there it was - processed in China. That was the end of that.
