although this has been discussed many times over the years and this is a old thread -- my advice:

Toss it!!!

Many of my pieces are starting to do the same and I used to be so happy that they didn't!  I do the same hand wash, etc..

I ordered all the patriotic pieces last year and ALMOST forgot about them -- took them out hand washed them -- and noticed hairline cracks in the white part (they aren't really cracked but crackled in look). Guess I won't be using them much!
